Vigorously poured into a pint glass a very pale golden yellow with orange highlights, a medium to towering head that left good lacing and never completely dissipated.
Good smell - not exceptional. Big pine and grapefruit. Some light floral notes. Not much else.
Very interesting taste. Pine and grapefruit, running the gamit of less bitter citrus from orange to apricot to a little pineapple. A really interesting undercurrent of caramel and burnt sugar. Bitter herbs.
Creamy mouthfeel with light carbonation.
Not exceptionally drinkable even for the style - but pleasant.
I remember enjoying this more last year on tap at Ashleys - as I remember it, it seemed less piney, more integrated. But I had a lot of beer that night. Still its a pleasure and an education. Like being knuckle spanked by a nun.

Tasted July 25th 2011 (from review)
Poured into a la Chouffe tulip
A - pale straw, half finger white head and some lacing
S - very sweet, tons of citrus, lots of tropical fruits and flowers, very sweet, lots of malt, slight pungent yeast and all around awesomeness
T - super hoppy, lots of sugar, tons of fruit, grass, yeast, wheat, nice sweet malt, boozey but not to boozey, very slight MJ note. Very simple but tons of flavor
M - Full bodied, excellent balance, simple complexity, medium acidity and a very nice almost perfect hop, malt and sugary booze finish
D/O - This is the kind of beer that makes me want all beers to be readily available all over the America's! One of the better DIPA's I have had and most definitely makes founders worth the "hype"
Final Thoughts - at 9+ ABV this beer kicks it into gear and is one of the better DIPA's. Still, not being easy to obtain, make this beer obnoxiously awesome!
