A - Pours a tangerine/sunset orange color, extremely clear. The head is a white frothy crown that dissapates quite quickly, leaving a little white ring of bubbles around the edges of the snifter. Nice lacing.
S - Juicy, citrusy hops... slight cat pee qualities and fresh marijuana notes, no malt. Light pineapple sweetness, but mostly pungent buds.
T - Hugely dry hopped, massively bitter, yet not overly astrigent or asprin-like. Somehow maintains a reasonable "balance" despite the huge hops. A light sweetness helps the extreme bitterness, yet malts aren't noted. Basically a big, citrusy, hoppy kick in the face. Hop oils linger in the mouth for a while.
M - I like everything about the mouthfeel. Nice, airy carbonation coupled with a rather massive body.
D - Not the most supremely drinkable DIPA but one I'd definitely pick up again.
Notes: When I first had this the day it hit stores, I tried it back to back with Hopslam and was severly dissapointed by it. Having it on its own, however, makes you realize and appreciate the huge differences between the two. This is a goliath, where Hopslam is a bit lighter on its toes.

served from bottle, slightly over a month old.
pours a hazy straw-yellow. small rocky head that dissipates and clings to side of glass.
smells of pungent hops, cannabis, pine, and tropical notes with citrus (this beer is brewed with Summit, Simcoe and Amarillo hops)
front of the tongue has a big wallop of bitterness that quickly transitions to a pungent, dank taste - the sort of typical Simcoe taste. follows with a nice sweetness, citrus and tropical notes, slightly sugary. really well balanced!
overall, this is a great DIPA. great representation of the style, and this brew is incredibly balanced between pungent bitterness and sweeter notes.
