Pours a clear, bright gold with a moderately sticky white head that leaves a nice crown of lacing on the side that resembles elfin scroll. Much lighter in color than I'd expect for the style -- not the copper hue I've come to associate with DIPAs. Big hoppy aromas, like I just walked into a pine forest with a big grapefruit grove in the middle.
The taste is obviously dominated by hops. Citrusy on the intake, more grassy in the middle with a pungent woodsy, piney lingering aftertaste. Very well balanced with a subtle malt backbone that competes honorably with the huge hop presence, preventing this from being one-sided but without muting the main feature -- glorious, abundant hops. Uberhoppy without being unpleasantly astringently bitter. Nicely crafted -- a fine-tasting brew.
Slick, oily mouthfeel with good carbonated briskness. Very drinkable for a beer this big. Maybe too drinkable. A DIPA where I could definitely go for another. And possibly another. Which would be dangerous, obviously.
Another strong offering from a brewery that's done very little that wasn't for me.
