An imperial IPA that was brewed to turn your world upside down. Hops will get you coming and going. Pungent aromatics up front pair with a malt-balanced backbone and a smooth, bitter finish.

Really can't go wrong with a founders brew. Served this chilled, in a pint glass, from a stubby twelve ounce brown bottle.
Appearance: Double Trouble pours out a light golden amber color that had a bit of a haze to it. A hard pour yielded about a finger and a half of thin, bubbly head. Head faded rather quickly into a thin ring of foam atop the beer. Each sip left some spotty lace behind on the glass. Noticed some random carbonation bubbles floating to the top of the glass.
Smell: Tons of citrusy hop aromas out front, consisting mostly of orange and grapefruit peel. A somewhat subdued floral hop presence is also noticed. A bit of a medicinal hop aroma also peeks out from the background. A somewhat strong maltiness that doesn't quite hang with the hops. Faint notes of pipe tobacco with a touch of leather deep in the background.
Taste: A real resiny hop blast gets things going. Almost juicy. More of the citrus with an herbal kick. Hops really over power the sweet malt. Faint yeasty undertones with a bet of fresh cut grass. Alcohol is pretty well hidden except for a slightly warm finish. Ends with another palate smashing wave of hops.
Mouthfeel: Thickish, full bodied mouthfeel is quite pleasing. A moderate amount of tongue tingling carbonation is felt.
Drinkability: Quite drinkable despite the high ABV. A few of these may get the best of you though.

355 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.4%, 86 IBUs. Surprisingly pale golden colour, probably the palest American double IPA I’ve seen. Big to moderate white head. Distinct but still relatively moderate aroma of citrussy and piney American hops, also notes of caramel and orange marmalade. The flavour is of course very hoppy from start to finish, but not really extreme. The grapefruity bitterness is partly balanced by a pronounced malty sweetness. Notes of caramel and orange marmalade again. Very bitter aftertaste.

Hazed, amber/gold appearance with a medium size head and decent lacing. Subtle aroma; coaxed out some tropical fruit that resembled mango. Hoppy flavor leaned more resinous than citrus and was well balanced by the modestly sweet, malty backbone. Lush aftertaste.
