A: Pours a surprisingly light gold color with some light orange hues. The beer is completely transparent with about a finger of white head which quickly recedes into a thin white ring. There is some lacing but not much. Looks more like a pilsner than a DIPA.
S: Sweet citrus up front--oranges and tangerines with some sweet grapefruit. There's a grassy aroma on the finish, though, which mixes interestingly with the sweeter citrus aromas.
T: The taste is quite unique and different than most DIPAs. Where there was citrus on the nose, the taste is all pine and grass. There's a very herbal and spicy characteristic to the taste as well, leaving an aftertaste of resiny bitterness and peppercorns. The bitterness does not linger, though. The malt does begin to show a bit more of a presence as the beer warms, but ultimately still takes the back seat.
M: Medium-light body with moderate carbonation that goes pretty well with the peppery bitterness.
D: With the light body without too much malt or bitterness, this beer goes down pretty easily.
Overall, a pretty good and very unique DIPA. Where most DIPAs are either very citrus or pine forward, this beer has a very grassy, spicy, and herbal flavor to it.
