Poured into a FFF Alpha King glass. The beer its self is golden yellow and hazy with a thin white head about a finger thick. I can't say this beer is very pretty but it certainty is not ugly. The first smell is pine with citrus and grapefruit and hints of mango. This IPA is more on the piny side but there is a nice complexity to keep it from being one dimensional. The taste is earthy, sweet, piny, and fruity. One of the more complex tasting DIPAs I've had recently. I think a lot of DIPAs try to be hop bombs and pallet strippers rather then assertive and complex. The mouthfeel is a little thicker and sweeter then I prefer but it's still drinkable. Overall, this is one of the best DIPA buys out there. Its hard to turn it down when its fresh.

Pours a vibrant orange. Clear as day with a very thin white head.

Smells like a ton of citrus hops. Guava, mango, mandarin rind and lime zest. A hibt of leaf and pine. A bit sweet smelling, like a sugary smell. A bit of odd sweat like after a rigorous workout.

Starts with a sweet malt flavor, honey suckle and bread. Big hit of bitter pine and earth, then comes the fruit train. Valencia orange. Guava, mango, and I detect a lot of lime. A very deep and unique hop flavor across the board, filled with many different flavors and layers. Bitterness is at the beginning of the second half. Solid bitterness but not overly so. Finishes dry yet sweet, with mild yeasty esters that blend well with a fruit juicy hop flavor.

Medium bodied and a bit overly sweet. Fills the tongue with hoppy goodness. Dry finish. Hides the 9.4% fairly well.

Fantastic aroma and flavor, though a bit sweet. Very good juicy hop flavor, extremely enjoyable as it warms. Very nice. A bit weird that this was from 4/18 and there's very little head, but the ring of bubbles never dissipates.

Accidently blurred the bottled on date, but purchased in April 2013. Poured into a chalice.

I love this type of DIPA. It has a HUGE grapefruit aroma - a favorite characteristic for me. A refreshing and quite quaffable beer. And with a well hidden ABV of 9.4%, a potentially dangerous one as well.

A - Pours a light honey/golden color, slight cloudy/hazy, with a half-finger white rocky head. Average lacing.

S - Huge grapefruit, slight pine and sweetness.

T - Clean, piney/resinous in the start, some maltiness, and then grapefruit in the finish with lingering bitterness on the palate.

MF - Smooth. No alcohol. Hides its 9.4% ABV very well.

12oz bottle, been meaning to try this since last year. Born in date is faded but I think it says 4/17 either way this is pretty fresh.

A: pours a bright brilliant copper with huge pillow of a head. Head resides quickly but leaves some legs. Slightly hazy.

S: blast of grapefruit and piney hops, really strong aroma, some herbal notes as well. Smells like an absolute hop bomb.

T: a big pineapple, mango, tropical citrus hop flavor with some grapefruit and pine mixed in. Much more citrus than aroma. Finishes with a bitter, juicy, resin /oil flavor. Malt profile is caramel all the way, doesn't get in the way of hops at all. This one's all hops.

M: low carbonation, quite syrupy and oily, coats the walls of my mouth. Finish is slightly hot, but based on flavor it's actually quite sessionable.

O: this is hop nirvana. A great mix of tropical, pine, herbal, bitter and sweet. Aroma was very impressive, taste even better. Definitely a must buy when fresh and in season. Might be the best highly produced dipas.
