Poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a cloudy golden amber color with a one finger eggshell colored head. Not much retention or lacing; still, a damn good looking beer.

S: GRAPEFRUIT! Seriously, this is like having your nose get walloped by a sack of fresh grapefruit. There is a little maltiness as well, alongside the slightest hint of booze.

T: To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the dominating grapefruit makes its way down to the tastebuds. There are three parts to this beer: the huge citric opening, a malty middle, and a piny finish with just a kiss of alcohol - basically, a textbook DIPA. It doesn't break much ground, it just does what it purports to do very, very well.

M: A little bit heavy bodied and syrupy, though not excessively so. There is a hop finish, and it's indeed rather sticky, though not quite a palate killer. Carbonation is a bit low.

O: Personally given the choice, I'd rather have Founders Breakfast Stout, but this will do in a pinch nicely. Highly recommended.

A - Nice golden color with a fine white head. Good retention.

S - Grapefruit, slightly boozy, some pine.

T - What can I say? This is yet another fantastic creation from our friends at Founders. Smooth and light and dominated by grapefruit and light booze. Well put together and just like any good IPA, a nice bitter aspect.

M - Not overwhelming but a crisp taste. Good carbonation and a solid body.

O - A great brew that any DIPA fan should check out. While it is not the best IPA I have ever had, I would never decline one.

Appearance: Pour a clear golden color topped by three fingers of foam; impressive stickage that leaves a few shards of lace

Smell: Grapefruit and pineapple, topped by a teaspoonful of sugar; alcohol clearly present

Taste: The sugary malts jump out, with the grapefruit and pineapple not far behind; rather cloying, after the swallow, in a way that is more reminiscent of a Stone beer than a Hopslam; the finish is lengthy and resinous

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and sticky, with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: Drinking this side by side with a Hopslam, I find these beers so different that I am surprised that so many have chosen to make the comparison in their reviews; while the citrusy aspect is similar, this beer is more bitter, resinous and cloying

Served from a bottle, very fresh.

Appears very light colored starting with a nice head that remains in thin form throughout the consumption. Little bit of lacing on the glass.

Smells fucking awesome. Round and fruity, not sharp pungency at all. Very fresh hop smell coming from this beer.

Tastes initially much like it smells. Fruity with a nice, but not overbearing bitterness coming through rather quickly. The hopping on this beer is probably very much made up of late additions.

Mouthfeel very resinous, lingering fruitiness on the tongue. Not a thick bodied beer, but not thin either. A nice middle ground.

Overall a great example of the style. Really showcases the hops, very little malt flavor to be found. At the same time very drinkeable and not overly bitter. Highly recommended for fans of a lighter colored hop focused double. How does it compare to Hopslam? How the fuck should i know, i didnt get to the store early enough in the day and probably shouldn't be spending $20+ dollars on a sixer anyway.

Appearance: Slightly hazed gold. Head is bright-white and drops to a thin ring pretty quickly. Carbonation is on point.

Smell: Tropical fruit laced with pine. Nice level of sweetness. Hints of grapefruit and biscuits. Faint grassiness in the back. As it warms the grapefruit takes over and takes a decidedly candied run. Sweetness works in the long run as it's tempered by a lingering bitterness/pine.

Taste: Grapefruit explosion. Nice level of citrus overall. Pine, pith, and something almost tropical come through the back, but grapefruit dominates. Big fleshy grapefruit coupled with some zest. Malts are a touch sweet and add a slight biscuit element to the back. Lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Slightly higher carbonation than expected leads to a crisp mouthfeel and a medium body. Dry on the sip.

Overall: Very solid. One of the more grapefruit-forward DIPAs I've encountered.
