Enjoyed in a snifter

A: pours a very beautiful golden yellow with a slight hazy and a nice amount of carbonation bubbles present, pours with a thin finger of pure white head that dissipates rather rapidly, leaves spotty lacing around the glass
S: a great scent which really hits on the notes i like to see in DIPAs, nice fresh floral hops with a good depth underlying from earthy tones
T: definitely bitter which is great, there are citrus hop notes present but not quite as fresh and clean as i had hoped for, still nice and has an interesting funkiness which lingers on the palate long afterwards
M: medium carbonation up front, drinks thin and leaves the mouth distinctly dry long long after the sip is taken
O: this is a great DIPA dont get me wrong but with all of he hype and stature that this beer has in the community i had expected more depth and complexity

From Al's. Kegged two weeks ago.

A: The double IPA is a bright golden amber color, very clear radiant even. A finger of white head leaves strands of lace behind, attempting to layer around the far side of the glass.

S: Citrus and pine come together in a tropical lushness. Very rich and strong, these hops have grapefruit, pine and orange zest driving them. A biscuity underbelly, not much of an attention-seeker, provides light breadiness in contrast to the hops.

T: Very big. The hops are at the forefront of each sip and never release their grip. They bring citrusy grapefruit, resins, and tropically lush fruits to the table. The flavors bring the booze, unavoidable I think, but I just powered through. The lightness, biscuity breads, do a great job of keeping the body from getting too heavy. The result is a very enjoyable drink, albeit one that one must limit to, well, one.

M: Abundant tropical fruits, the tingly bitterness, the hoppy goodness. The other night, I tried this beer blended with KBS. Sounds incredible and doesn't taste half bad. A good IPA from Founders.
