Poured on-tap and served in a snifter, the beer is a very bright, vibrant, orange-gold coloring with a fluffy, big bubbled, off-white head of about a half an inch. Aromas are amazingly blended, with a light orange and grapefruit citrus blend mixing with a floral, wet, fresh hops aroma. This smells really friggin good. Flavors are lighter than you would expect, with a solid toasty and rich caramel backbone giving rise to a hop forward blast of tart and bitter grapefruit and spicy, wet, fresh hops. Palate is amazingly blended, and the body is smooth and light, which helps the beer to avoid becoming overpowering. Decent lacing along the glass, and this is an easy drinker. The aftertaste is smooth, with a slight touch of hops cleaned up by the citrus notes. Clean, smooth, and slightly dry finish. This is a good damn beer!

Served from the bottle bottled on 2/20/12 into a snifer

A- Poured a semi-hazy bright golden color with a very small head that leaves a little lace

S- Prominent Fragrant floral hop aroma, resin, some citrus. Very good but not extremely strong

T- Super big juicy citrus, grapefruit, and mango flavors, some floral flavor. Big bitterness on the finish.

M- Very soft mouthfeel, high prickly carbonation, finishes very dry. Alcohol is very well hidden

O- An amazing DIPA with a great mouthfeel, huge hop bitterness, and juicy tropical/citrus fruit flavors. Taste is maybe not quite a 5, but I will make up for some of that here, it falls between a 4.5 and 5 in taste.

Pours a slightly hazy golden straw. Smaller head but excellent lacing.
Huge piney hops. Sweet tropical fruits.
Same on mouth. Gigantic bitter, rosiny piney hops. Booze in the form of pineapple and mango sweetness. Dry finish.
A huge DIPA. This is proof the west coast has competition in the IPA category

A- Dark golden with a thin head that leaves nice lacing

S- Strong pine hop aroma, not so much to be overwhelming through

T- Dry pine hop flavor that builds through to a nice bitter finish, just enough light golden malt taste to offset the hop, but no more. Very hop-forward and deliciously so

M- Lightly carbonated with a very light body feel as well. Not much of an alcohol feel, even with the high abv, making it very drinkable

O- Very enjoyable, this beer is definitely a vehicle for the robust hopiness that any hop-head will love

Pours clear and straw yellow, smells strongly of hops and some sweetness. Taste is dominated by hops, some citrus, grassy and piney hops. Pronounced hop resin lingers all over the mouth, palate is completely destroyed. Carbonation is good and mouthfeel

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A - Golden straw in color, significant haze, starts with a very thick and foamy head that recedes leaving a thin cap on top, good lacing on the glass.

S - Hoppy, hoppy hoppy; pine some grapfruit and lemon. very subtle bicuity scent lingering in the background.

T - Interesting taste, get lots of grapefruit, pine and hops crispness on the front, backend reveals some malts and the alcohol is woven throughout the brew.

M - medium bodied, medium carbonation.

O - A very tasty beer, Founders has yet to letme down. Good bitterness, lots of hops.

A: Poured a orangey straw yellow. Very nice viscosity, half finger head that settles to a very thin cap around the edges. Lacing and retention are small to moderate.

S: Purity. Hoppy juices emulate from the glass. Grapefruit, lemon rind, malt.

T: Begins fruity and tart, then migrates to a bold hoppiness (as it should). Toward the end I'm detecting some mossy, earthy tones. Very straightforward.

M: Extremely smooth and thick! Hop residue coats your palate and doesn't let go. Carbonation is micro-smooth and guides your mouth to the hop caverns.

O: 9.5% ABV what?? It's Double Trouble! Solid DIPA from Founders.

appearance: golden straw color, minimal head, but it laces pretty nicely. pretty clear and transluscent

smell: the scent reveals the quality of this beer. clean hops. what else do you expect in a double IPA from Founders?

taste: think Bell's Hopslam, but just slightly worse. Maybe it's me, but I like IPA's enough to think that this beer isn't quite full-bodied enough/bitter enough for me (though for others it could be right on)

mouthfeel: extremely drinkable and enjoyable. nothing too elaborate, just a great IPA

overall: great beer. great taste. thanks again Founders.
