Had a bottle of this on 2012-01-19 just a few days after this fresh batch hit the area; in my case, Columbia, PA. The scores are based on this fresh bottle.
A - Clear golden-straw with a 1.5-finger pillowy white head and very good lacing.
S - Big plumes of hop bud oils and hop floral. Some honey sweetness. Little pine, malt or yeast.
T - Initally honey-sweet malt then a quick hop-forward flash of bitterness, light roasted grain, pineapple flesh, then red grapefruit juice bitterness. There's a honey and citric sweetness on the lips while the burgeoning grapefruit zest bitterness keeps climbing into the drying aftertaste. Eventually the sweetness says to the bitterness, "I give up. You win."
M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. Resinous, oily and prickly.
O - It reminds me of a mix of Bell's Hopslam and Fat Head's Head Hunter. Having this fresh makes a BIG difference so get it now while you can. Pretty fine DIPA if you ask me.
Older review - Had this on 2011-11-15 in New Berlin, WI.
A - Hazy golden-orange with a 1-finger pillowy white head and moderate lacing.
S - Tangelo flesh, mild spice, a touch of pine and a whiff of yeast.
T - Hop-forward bitterness, light roasted grain with some caramel. Not tropical. Significant grapefruit rind bitterness. There's some bitterness from the roast. As it dries, there's some alcohol present and the rind gives way to a white grapefruit flesh flavor. Dries really well for a high ABV brew.
M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. A little oily and prickly.
D - Hit the spot tonight. If you like an astringent, dry grapefruit bitter DIPA; you'll really enjoy this.

a: body is a golden straw color with a huge fluffy white head that lasts for ever and leaves ring after ring on it's way down.
s: huge on grapefruit notes with a little malt in there.
t: wow! more grapefruit punch with a nice malt body to carry thru to the pine finish.
m: good carbonation and a medium to full body. slightly creamy at first with a good dry bitter finish.
o: not a surprise that founders can do yet another ipa so well.
