A: Not really any head, lots of lacing. Cloudy straw yellow with maybe a hint of orange.

S: So much ruby red grapefruit. Some piney hops. Yum!

T: Drying hops. More grapefruit. Some maltiness to adds some texture. Quite good.

M: Carbonated, spicy, full. Very nice!

O: Quite good. I enjoy it and would have another, but it's not my favorite Founders.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into an Albemarle Ciderworks glass. Bottled on 23 December 2011.

A: White head fizzles and fades out. Unfiltered, straw yellow, and translucent. Great lace.

S: Piney hops. Big and strong with a healthy dose of sweet fruit.

T: Ruby grapefruit and drying, astringent hops. Strong, but a one (okay, two) note show. It's a good beer, no doubt, but not up to the standards I expected. Big malt base, providing a touch of chewy sweetness and the alcohol, but the hops steal the stage and monopolise the tongue with their resiny pine.

M: Excellent! Robust, carbonated, spicy, and engaging.

O: Overrated. A middling DIPA, but heavy on the hops (at least in the bottle). Not my favourite Founders. Recommended for hopheads, but not worth the hype.

Pours a bright yellow color with little head from the keg... some sediment as well.

Smell is what the color looked like... lemon citrus. At 9.4% ABV, this beer comes across much lighter.

Taste is sweet with notes of honey and lemon. Easy drinking, but not exactly what I expected coming from a double IPA.

Overall, a little bit of a let down coming from Founds, but different. Sure some love it and that's what the beer world go 'round.

As always with founders, awesome artwork on the label. Poured into a tulip. Half finger of bright white head, with foggy glowing orange body. Dank fruity hops on the nose. Lots of citrus, melon, a little lemon zest. Palate is smooth, and full. Lots of sweet malt balancing a bitter hoppiness. Some nutmeg or some other spice on the back of the palate. Smooth as hell and not too carbonated. Awesome brew!

A - poured a hazy golden hue, barely any head, constant bubbles rising from center of glass

S - bitterness, citrus, honey, smells of heavy booze.. grapefruit, caramel

T - slightly bitter initial with a very floral/fruity follow up.. very bitter after-taste. taste the hops with every burp. lingering bitterness turns very earthy and way more bitter. i am enjoying this bitterness way more than last year.

M - medium body with moderate carbonation. creamy mouthfeel..

O - this would be a good IPA if it didn't have such a distinct after-taste. it makes me want to just get the beer over with as fast as possible so i can try and get rid of the lingering bitterness.

Bottled on Jan 6 2012, drank on Feb 5 2012

edit: 2013 bottle drank fresh.. liking it way more. not sure if it's because my palate has developed or because it's just better this year. re-scored. went from a 3.25 to a 4.

12 ounce bottle poured to pint glass. Over a full inch of creamy white head, fades slow. Slow n steady visible carbonation. Clear dark, bright yellow. I forced a solid head onto it with a hard pour, but this is a beaut.

Smells of lemony citrus, hops, clover, and white pepper.

Tastes smooth layers of hops, grapefruit, pepper, and hops. A beautiful layered balance.

Feels smooth and creamy with a bitter finish.

Overall, beyond decent. This is an excellent IPA. Stands out for sure.

A. Little to no head. Golden yellow transparent color. Great lacing.

A. This is where this beer definately shines. A couple stirs and this beer is a citrusy hop bomb. Sweet then grapefruit.

T. Starts off with a slight bitterness then a nice malt followed by a long lasting hop bitterness, making you want another sip.

O. This is an ok beer. Definately easy to drink and chug down. Alcohol is not their at all. Price is the only thing holding this back. Their are 6 packs out their with just as good taste that cost less.
