Bottle poured into a tulip glass.
A- It poured with a murky brown body. The head was quite minimal and left some decent sticky spots on the glass.
S- It had a very sweet aroma, like a nice sour mash whiskey. There was some lighter smoke-like scents along with some woody and alcohol notes. Everything became more pronounced with warmth.
T- It's like Dirty Bastard on steroids. It had a great whiskey-like flavor with peat smoke tones, something of a sour malt and a bit of an alcohol burn.
M- Light carbonation, a bit of a coating effect, and a slight alcohol burn make for a nice drinking experience.
D- It's a good sipper. The robust flavor makes me want to try it again. I'd suggest it to any Scotch Ale fan.

A: Pours a muddy brown color with just a hint of red to it. Thin sandy colored head simmers down quickly, leaving just a thin layer above the beer.
S: The bourbon definitely jumps out at you right away. Toasted coconut, vanilla, burnt caramel, brown sugar, spicy oak and just a bit of marshmallow. Smells pretty great.
T: Tons of rich maltiness right off the bat with a lot of caramel, oak, molasses, vanilla and bourbon. The finish brings some heavy oak and some light cinnamon and charred wood. Mouthfeel is slick and gives the sweeter caramel flavors a bit of a buttery feel. This is pretty good stuff. Way up there on my list of scotch ales.

12oz bottle 2013 release poured into a snifter glass.
A: Dark brown body with a khaki brown head
S: Smells strongly of bourbon could be a bit more complex.
T: Taste of bourbon and vanilla upfront along with some darker fruits.
M: Slight alcohol burn but nothing off putting by any means. Mouthfeel is a bit light for a beer of this caliber.
O: Real decent scotch ale. Not the best barrel aged beer I've had but it is defiantly one that I will pick up year after year.
