A: Light golden orange with good carbonation. Medium-sized white head that reduces to a small skim on the surface.

S: Surprisingly strong for the style: a nice whiff of grapefruit and citrus hops, caramel malt, and some grainy, malty aromas.

T/M: A good amount of flavor without being unbalanced. Sweet and malty up front, with caramel and doughy grains. This is followed by some robust hops, primarily with a nice citrus edge, and a good hit of bitterness on the way down.

O: An excellent pale ale with some well-crafted flavors without verging into IPA territory at all. Well balanced between the malt base and more hop flavor than you'd expect from the low ABV and low IBU count.

Served in a pint glass.

Very light yellow/gold in color, a finger of white head thins out pretty quickly; some lacing. Looks ok.

Smell is pretty subdued. Natural grass aromas, slight hint of hops and malt.

Taste is similar, nothing special but light and refreshing. Not terribly complex.

Mouthfeel is average with medium carbonation and slightly bitter aftertaste.

Overall ok for the style but I've had better Pale Ales. Not my favorite offering from Founders.

Cheers.

12 oz bottle wad poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a small head that reduced to a thin layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. It is a pale orange color with some haziness and visions of bubbles and floaties. There is also some sediment in the bottom of the glass.

Smell and taste: toasted, bready, and caramel. Faint citrus aroma. The taste is a bit better, but still a bit weak.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, low to medium carbonation, medium bodied, and easy to drink.

Overall: Kind of a bit disappointed about this beer. A very light pale ale with little hop characteristics. Not sure what happened here, but wouldn't mind trying it out on draft.
