I have to thank R0032 again for the chance to try this highly coveted brew. I'm excited, and ready to take on this highly regarded beast...
A - pitch black, very little to no head. What little head there is, comes in tan and sticks around to the glass for a while. I expected this, and fully understand why there is little head with this sort of barrel aging.
S - Coffee stands out. Sweet dark malts, moderate roast. As it warms, I just get more roasted coffee.
T - Wow. A nice big sweetness hits the tongue immediately, It's sweet milk chocolate that overtakes the palette, then the maple swoops in in an impressive manner. Vanilla, tiny tint of anise, and then the bourbon hits as it's going down. Impressive how all of the flavors stand out, but harmonize to finish so cleanly.
M - A medium to thick mouthfeel. Creamy, Silky, and great for the style. Carbonation is right where it should be to accentuate the flavors in this style (little carbonation).
O - Did I say Wow yet? Wow. This is a fantastic brew! An array of sweet malt flavors combine with toasty coffee and maple syrup, and then takes a bourbony turn in the finish. Vanilla throughout, a little heat, and I am in heaven. Its almost like choicolate milk with a kick... But it's so much more! I would definitely seek this out again! I would recommend drinking this soon, only because I feel that everything is in perfect balance at this very moment,
