A: Clear golden yellow in color. Forms a minimal white head that reduces fairly quickly to just the faintest wisp of surface coating. No lacing what so ever.
S: Fairly aromatic. Boozy, but in a good way. Vanilla, oak, citrus, and orange. Aroma is sweet and slightly floral.
T: Taste is also fairly sweet. Again its pretty boozy, but then again, so is bourbon, so it's not out of place here. More oak, a bit of sweet vanilla, orange peel, and some other citrus. There is a slight earthiness on the finish.
M: Smooth, slick, and slightly oily. Lower carbonation. Moderate bitterness.
O: I liked this beer even though I really wasn't expecting to. I was expecting this to be more along the lines of DFH's Burton Baton: earthy, strong, and with muted hops. You know, essentially a barleywine listed as a DIPA. But in the end, this beer was able to blend two contrasting flavors quite well and it was rather reminiscent of a bourbon cocktail. Maybe something along the lines of a Boulvadier: a little sweet, a little boozy, and a bit of bitterness, yet still harmonious. Can't say that this is something I'd want to drink on a regular basis, but still a very nice beer.
