Serving Type - 22 oz bottle.

Appearance - Light golden tan/yellow, looks much like pineapple juice. 1/2 inch creamy head and nice lacing.

Smell - Sweet fruity hops, vanilla, oak, lemon, apple, grapes. A little bourbon aroma mixed in with some sugars.

Taste - First sip is real malty, then the hops and bourbon kicks in. Loads of sweet hops, vanilla and bourbon. Each sip is warm from the booze, and oaked, and loads of vanilla. Added sugars work well, and add some nice sweetness to counter all the bourbon and bitterness. The finish is warm.

Mouthfeel - Tongue gets a lot of malts, vanilla and bourbon. Palate gets plenty of oak and vanilla, along with more hops and sugars. The aftertaste is warm, vanilla and sweet fruits.

Overall - Just fantastic in every way. Such a big beer, yet easy to enjoy. The addition of the barrel age really takes this to the next level. Balance is nice, each aspect shines , the malts, hops, bourbon, vanilla, sugars, all mixed in and work great together. Hope this gets a annual release.

Excited to try this beer I'm never a huge fan of barrel aged DIPA, but it's Founders they don't typically screw up any beers they've done in whiskey barrels. Pours a slightly hazed bright golden copper hue with a bright white head forming thick, with fine white lacing left behind evenly between sips. The nose comes off like a honey bourbon barrel, toasted oak, vanilla, a bit of charred barrel notes really impressive mild citric hops definitely muted from the barrel aging here. A beautiful marriage between DIPA and bourbon barrels, I'm in love with the first sip it's sweet with whisky malts, slightly vanilla charred oak with big alcohol and bitterness from the muted hops it's an amazing experience for any bourbon and DIPA lover it's the lovechild. It has a kiss of honey that makes the bourbon burn just wash away complex ale in all it's beauty I'm in love with this beer. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied residual sugars abound, great stuff throughout each sip not a bad sensation on the palate. Overall impressive to no end, I'm a fan of this beer...it's gone before you want it to be gone. It's that good don't believe me try it, please.

Had a Doom last night..poured at refrigerator temperature. Nice Amber color, good bitter-sweet IPA smell. Taste was really good, but rather average. Honestly I had to think about the bourbon to actually taste it. A very good IPA, but a very average IPA. The difference was a nice smoothness from the bourbon. It was good, but not a must have!!
