Thanks to jlindros for sending this one my way!
This may be the perfect glass to use for this brew. It looks and smells absolutely wonderful.
It pours a very pretty, clear, light pink color. When held to a light, it has a tinting of golden orange. The head, just over one-fingers worth, is creamy looking foam that is a light, almost creamy, pink color. Remeniscent of cotton candy, color-wise. The retention is great and the lacing is thick and quite sticky.
I get notes of cherries, both sweet and tangy. There is a nice wheatiness to it and a good hint of yeast.
As good as it smells, it is a very simple nose. Sometimes less can be more, I guess.
This is great! You get a nice little hint of cherry sweetness, right on the tip of your tongue. This is followed by a very mild maltiness. Then the tanginess hits you, mid-palate. There are mild wheat notes below the surface and a light hint of caramels. The cherry sweetness returns in the end, to combine with the tartness, and create an almost perfect finish.
The best part of it all is that the cherry flavor is very natural and doesn't taste artificial at all.
This has an excellent medium body. I say this because, while it is medium, it manages to have a crispness, that I generally associate with lighter bodies. It also has a nice level of creaminess, though not overpowering, that I associate with fuller-bodied brews. The carbonation is just about perfect, filled with little zesty/lively bubbles that just dance across your palate.
This is a very tasty and highly drinkable brew. The low-ish abv would help to keep it quite a session beer. I know that fruit beers aren't for everyone, but for those of us who like to have them every now and then, this is a winner.
It's almost like a better version of Lindemans Kriek. It has the flavor, but hasn't been artficially sweetened, like the Kriek has. It still has a nice tart/sour presence to it.
Founders proves to me, once again, that they are worthy of being one of my top favorite breweries.

The pour is a dark blood red with a head that has a pink hue. Nose is cherries, green vegetables, and stale cereal. Taste is a bit stronger cherry, gets a touch medicinal. Finish is slightly tart, a big syrupy body and moderate carbonation. Not the best fruited beer.
