a: poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner urquell flute. interesting, hazy off pink color with a light pink head that slowly settles into a thin lacing.

s: interesting aroma. tart cherries are definitely noticible. i'm also picking up some honey. more complex than you're average fruit beer

t: not sickly sweet like i was expecting. a nice balance of tartness and sweetness. the 6.5 abv is very well hidden. i swear there must be honey in this, because i can still notice it. good stuff.

m&d: pretty fizzy mouthfeel. there's a reason these only come in 4 packs. i wouldn't want more than that.

i really good fruit beer-- probably one of the better ones i've had. this would be delicious on a summer day.

Pours a clear reddish amber color with a 1 finger bubbly off white head that faded quickly, leaving decent spotty lacing. This looks like a fruit punch after the head is gone.

Smells sweet up front with cherries, grains, malt, some light caramel and maybe some faint wheat or yeast; this was a very soft and basically dull nose, which was a big surprise based on all of the other Founders beers that I’ve had.

Tastes sweet overall, with the cherry, sweet malt and roasted grains leading the way, followed by some citrus zest tingle on the tongue, bubblegum or a sweet soda like a Fanta, caramel or light syrup, brown sugar and a slight yeast funk. It was more complex than I expected and did not have the sweetness that kills some fruit beers, as this was blended just right and brought the cherry sweetness right to the edge and stopped for a very enjoyable flavor.

The mouthfeel is extremely light, crisp and refreshing, with high, fizzy carbonation, a light body and a real smooth feel as it goes down with just a tingle over the tongue.

The more I drank this the more I enjoyed it, and the flavor and drinkability of this beer have my vote to rate this a good session beer and change of pace. Another excellent balancing act by Founders as they continue to impress me with fine product after fine product. I recommend trying this beer if you like fruit beers as it was just right in the flavor department.

Reddish copper pour with a small layer of head. Tartness present on the nose with fresh cherries and hints of alcohol. Taste is moderately tart and surprisingly subtle. The cherries present are very fresh and ripe tasting, and there is a slight acidity on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium to light. This one has a nice flavor but isn't too bold, a decent fruit beer overall. Not one of my favorite styles, but in this case done well.

Poured into a 9 oz plastic tumbler- (number 8 in a series of tastings for the 2010 Holiday).

A- No head, even after a vigorous pour. Hazy golden color with slight amber hue (very slight). Almost no lacing.

S- Hard to get strong aromas from this ale- slight notes of hop and sweet hard candy- definate notes of the cherry presence.

T- Tart up front (hint of sour), followed by notes of the cherry with an twinge of sweet on the finish (interesting combination!) Feels like the kind of flavor you either like or you don't- as my tasting partner was firmly in the "don't" camp. I however liked it for it's diversity and differing character.

M- Good on the tongue- slight fizz, medium body, refreshing.

D- This is more of a warm weather brew- and interesting mix between a fuller, medium body amber ale with tart fruit notes.
