12 oz bottled May 8, 2012, poured into tulip.

A: Pours a vibrant ruby red grapefruit color, with just a bit of white head visible around the edges of the glass and in the center of the beer. A few carbonation bubbles flow up through the beer.

S: Very, very faint; I get just a bit of a bready malt backbone and, if I try hard enough, a faint cherry aroma. A bit of spiciness as it warms.

T: Very sweet, the cherry flavors definitely show up here. In fact, a syrupy cherry flavor is mostly all that I'm tasting; I do get a bit of breadiness on the finish just before the cherry sweetness takes over and lingers. A light tartness prevents this one from being cloying, and although its flavor is largely one dimensional, flavor is pretty solid overall.

M: Medium-bodied with moderate to lively carbonation. Extremely creamy, leaves a light sticky coating behind, and finishes somewhat dry. Founders absolutely nails it here on mouthfeel.

O: While I wouldn't pick this up all the time, it's a good example of the style and I enjoyed my glass. Certainly worth a try.

A - Pours a deep red in color. Off white/pinkish head on top. Yup, definitely a fruit beer!

S - A nose full of cherries and some bready characteristics.

T - Sweet cherries followed by some tartness, has a lingering fruit finish.

M - Medium bodied and carbonation.

O - I'm not sure if it is trying to be a fruit beer or a sour. It does have some nice sour qualities. I'm torn and shall rate it middle of the pack.

Poured into a pint glass. This one pours a clear vibrant red with a cap of light pink head.

The aroma is full of sweet cherry aromas. A bit to sweet though, almost makes it seem artificial. The pallet gives off the super sweet cherry flavors. Again, it's just a bit too sweet.

The body is full and sticky with soft carbonation. It really coats the pallet for sure. Overall this one isn't very good. I think it's just too sweet. I was hoping for something lighter and more refreshing. This seems to be more of a dessert.

a beautiful candy apple red pour with a finger of pink head. this is a strange looking beer, but i can't help but be mesmerized by the color!

smells of cherry and bready.. not much else there.

sweet cherry up front followed by a nice tart taste, the finishes back with a mellow fruit taste. this is really damn good - the closest thing comparable is a cross between smuttynose hanami ale and new glarus belgian red. a very delicious beer, not sure why i only picked up a single bottle.

light body, crisp and refreshing, medium carbonation. a near perfect summer beer, and fruit beer as well.

i really enjoyed this overall, but i feel like a 12oz bottle is too small of a size.. and the price is a bit steep for the 4 pack ($14???!). it's a good beer, and i will probably end up spending the money on the 4pack next time i see it on the shelf, but i don't think the majority of beer drinkers would spend so much on a fruit beer.

Pours a brownish pink color with fluffy white head. Aroma of lightly tart cherries, sweet sugar, and definite malt presence. Flavor follows suit with the tart cherries highlighting the flavors, and a definite malt presence that I wasn't expecting. For some reason I thought this would be more like a NG fruit beer, but it comes closer to a SA Cherry Wheat (but of course blows it away). Light palate, strong carbonation, easy drinking. Too bad they stopped making this one.

A - Body is cloudy with a mix of coppery orange and rose-pink. About 1/2 finger of pink foam forms and dissipates within a minute or two. Just a touch of lacing on the glass.

S - Tart and flowery cherry aroma is most noticeable with undertones of pineapple. Has a bit of a funky brett-like character to it even. Just barely a hint of caramely sweet malt behind the layers of fruit. Not quite as aromatic as I would hope, even with warming.

T - Sweet and smooth up front. Tastes like cherry pie filling. A little more tartness comes in toward the middle. I also get a metallic flavor that hits the back of my tongue with each sip. Not extremely noticeable, but enough to throw things out of whack a little bit. Very mild, smooth pale malt backbone with just a touch of hop bitterness and some herbal/earthy notes.

M - Thin-to-medium body. Very smooth and drinkable despite being so sweet. Surprisingly dry and clean in the finish. Great for the spring and summer time.

Cerise pours a reddish color with a small pink lacy head. The smell has a dry malty undertone, like a pils, with strong sweet tarty cherry aroma. The taste has a mixture of sweet and, with a mellow cherry flavor ontop of a dry pilsner like flavor. Very easy to drink, the fruit isnt over powering, but present. Overall a very nice fruit beer, blended well and great in the summer.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass at cellar temperature.

L - Bright red color with a 1-finger bubbly pink head. Decent retention and lacing. Slightly hazy while still being transparent with lots of carbonation bubbles.

S - Cherries and a definite wheat malt presence.

T - Sweet, with cherry and wheat malt flavors. At the finish, there may be a very slight presence of earthy, floral hops.

F - Light-to-medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation, a sticky and creamy mouthfeel, and a sweet, slightly dry finish. Cherry and wheat sweetness lingers for a little bit.

O - This is a pretty good fruit beer. It’s tasty to be sure, but if the cherry were taken away, the base wheat beer would only be an average beer. The cherry certainly adds to the color, aroma, and taste, but it can only do so much with an average base beer. Still, it’s a pretty good beer, especially if you’re into fruit beers and/or cherries.

Pours a gorgeous and vibrant cherry red color with pink and purple highlights. Half finger of pink tinted head. Smells of peaches, cherries, and a touch of wheatiness. Touch of medicinal funk. Head is extremely clingy.

Rich creamy mouthfeel. Feels almost like the consistency of a rich oatmeal stout oddly. Sweet candy like malts up front followed by rich cherry and peach flavor. Not syrupy at all, more like a berliner weiss with cherries. I feel like theres gotta be a touch of wheat in here due to the palate cleansing finish and lingering after taste. Sweet cherry almond cookie like finish. A touch of nuttiness as well. An extremely layered and complex beer. Touches of cereal like grains. The grain bill on this beer must be a nightmare to brew but it works out so well.

One of the deepest fruit beers I've ever had. Insanely delicate, flavorful, and complicated. This is how fruit is supposed to be used. This is a beer with fruit added. Not a fruit beer.

Pours a ruby/orange color, minimal white head. Good lace and decent retention. Aroma reminds me distinctly of cherry-flavored liquid medicine with a touch of Blushing Monk-esque fruit.

Starts off medicinal, then oddly boozy, finishing with artificial cherry flavors. Lingering bitterness feels out of place. This isn't bad, but it's pretty far from being good. A rare miss from the rock stars at Founders.

A- Ruby red color. Head is very thin and pink. Retention is poor. Minimal lacing.
S- The smell is quite mild, but I'm picking up tart cherry and a bit of wheatlike aromas.
T- At first it tastes like a pale wheat beer. Some tart cherries and sweet fruityness. Fairly tart throughout the finish.
M- Tart, ever so slightly puckering in the finish. Pretty full bodied for a fruity beer, low carb.
O- A decent fruit beer. Slightly tart, and it's a decent base beer with the right amount of fruit.

I had this fermented cherry drink in a shaker pint.

Appearance- Whoa, this one pours a cloudy and ruby red. It is a like a cross between a pink lemonade and grapefruit juice. There is almost no foamy stuff anywhere, just some hanging at the side of the glass. This also has a distinct off-white an pink tinge to it.

Smell- I get some wheat and only the faintest hint of cherries. Cerise almost tips over into wine cooler territory with the generic fruit smell it has. Not bad, but it is not bursting with cherry presence.

Taste- A little easier on the palate. I get a distinct cherry bitterness that washes over the tongue for the length of the drink. And just a splash of bing cherry flavor.

The finish has a huge wheat component where I would have like more cherry. However, this is a beer right? And not cherry juice. It even tastes like there is some crystal malt buried underneath everything. Interesting.

Mouth feel- Cerise is smooth as silk. The body is a little on the sparkling side, but it I like that the tingle does not come on until after the drink has been finished. Imagine those huge punch bowls with sherbert in them. It is kind of like that.

Overall- I was not overly impressed nor tunred off by this beer. If you are looking for a generally fruity offering then this will suffice. However, don't think that just because there is a cherry on the bottle that that is what you are going to get.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a dark purple color with moderate clarity. The head is a one finger light lavender color with average retention and good lacing near the glass.

S: Loaded with cherries, and there's even an underlying bready malt note, too, which mildly surprised me. Let's just call it different and leave it at that.

T: It's not a total cherry bomb - but it's almost a total cherry bomb. Mild bread notes linger throughout the sip, but this is pretty much cherries, cherries, and cherries. The finish is crisp and tart, with a light cream soda note building up slightly. Better than I expected, to be honest.

M: Spritzy, but not as light as it could be. Still, it comes close to drinking like water, which is always great on a hot (make that pleasantly warm) summer day.

O: It's always good to have your expectations exceeded. There's enough of a non-cherry character to make it a worthwhile summer staple. Founders does it again? I think so.

this is a weird one. pours majorly cloudy pink color, like pepto bismol almost. small lacey white head. not totally appetizing in appearance, but most certainly intriguing. smells like cherries and an overdoese of yeast. not a sour beer, but soe definite tartness going on. flavor isnt bad at all, lots of fresh cherries, which is the dominant flavor by far, but some interesting yeast character and a crisp finish. mouthfeel is weird, this is a heavy beer in a lighter genre, its almost too much to drink a glass of this, let alone several. good carbonation but kind of chalky. overall i am glad i tried this, but this assuredly isnt the brew that made founders famous. not bad, very out there.

A - Looks very cool, pink with light pink/white head. Not a typical color for a beer, which is very unique.

S - Light smell of cherries, but sweet cherries, not tart like I was hoping. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to the smell of this beer.

T - Sickly sweet with no tartness to balance this out. If this had the nice tartness of a typical cherry, I wouldn't be nearly as disappointed. I don't like the taste of this.

M - The mouthfeel might be the one redeeming quality of this beer, it finishes clean and crisp.

Overall, this beer is a disappointment. I can confidently say that this is the first time I've ever been disappointed by a Founders beer. Unfortunately, this is a drain pour, which is a first for Founders.

Pours a bright cherry juice color with a silly looking pink head. Whole bunch of beading. I'm immediately skeptical.

Smells fresh... light fruits, mild honey, table sugar, cherries of course.

My mom sampled some and said "It tastes like something that... isn't beer." And I sort of tend to agree. Tastes like some kind of wine spritzer. Fizzy fruit.

Very drinkable. But not my bag. What to do with the other three?

Poured into a wine taster. There is a nice ruby color. There is a small off-white head.

The aroma has a little bit of cherry, with a good dose of typical malt and yeast sprinkled in. The aroma isn't super strong, but well balanced.

The taste is mostly sweet medicinal flavor. There is a sweet aftertaste. This isn't super sweet, but there isn't anything to balance out the sweetness. I thought the look was good and the nose didn't turn me off. But I won't finish drinking this.

I'll pass, but for those who like sweeter fruit beers, I could see the appeal for this one.

Light pink head with good retention and lots of lacing. Body is a darker red, slight brown hues. Similar to a lambic.

Aroma is pure cherry - tart and lightly sweet.

Flavor is also dominated by cherry but with a little more complexity on the finish. The cherry is really great in this beer, I just wish there was something else too it.

Mouthfeel is good, nothing notable. Maybe a little on the heavier side, and somewhat smooth.

Overall an enjoyable, super-cherry beer.

A: Pours a ruby red color with a fingers worth of pink head that retains fairly well

S: Tart cherries and some light malts are really the only things that jump out, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a fruit beer. At least the fruit is definitely there

T: Follows the nose, the malts help out the cherries and make it quite balanced between tart and sweet, neither really overpowering. Again though, not much else besides cherries and malt but yet again, not a bad thing for a fruit beer

M: Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Soft

O: A solid, straight on approach to a fruit beer. In this case, it works. Definitely not sickly sweet like some (Lindemans Kriek immediately comes to mind) and not too tart either. Try it out if you like cherries

12oz. bottle - dated 05/15/12 - served into a tulip glass

Pours a multifaceted shade of red: like dark red velvet cake towards the top of the body, and almost like a bloody mary towards the bottom and sides. Not opaque, but it has enough (hazy?) darkness to obscure your fingers on the other side of the glass. 1.25 fingers of pale pink head; small bubbles and solid bands of lacing. The best part of this beer's appearance is when you swirl it in the glass - the velvet red of the beer's body splashes into the pink foam to make something beautiful.

There's not much to the nose of this beer, surprisingly. There's some faint cherry notes and some faint spice notes. It's kinda like someone opened up a New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red...from way across the room and you can barely smell it. It's not all fruit, though: the dominant aromas are malty, bready ones. Darker bread.

The very first flavor that comes across is some sort of generic beer flavor. Almost lager-like in its clean, sweet, bready malt flavor. Then the fruit comes in: cherry flavor that sits somewhere in between cherry pie and Ludens Wild Cherry Throat Drops. It's not exactly tart, but the cherry essence goes a bit beyond just sweetness. There's a very small amount of pie spice here; not nearly as much as in Wisconsin Belgian Red. I keep making that comparison because that New Glarus beer is the big gun in the non-Kriek cherry ale category. Does Cerise taste as good as that beer? No. But it's good in its own right.

Overall, this is a easy-drinking and somewhat refreshing cherry beer. I wish it were cheaper, as it is a nice summer heat beer, actually; I'd buy it more often.

A: Pours a bright red with a 1 finger pinkish white head. Fairly opaque but you can still see some carbonation. Head stick around for a while, leaves a hint of lacing.

S: First I get some over-ripened sweet fruits, obviously cherry, but also apple, peach and plum. An earthy aroma as well possibly from the yeast.

T: First taste is slightly sour as my taste buds adjust, cherry is what comes through the most. After my mouth adjusts you can see this certainly has beer like qualities. A nice change from other fruit dominated ales.

M: Medium to full bodied with lower than expected carbonation. A little sticky but overall easy drinking.

Overall good for the summer but not something I would want to drink all day. Even Founders struggles with this difficult style.
