12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass. Liquid comes out a nice amber/orange color. For the most part it's transparent, but if you look hard enough, there appears to be the slightest of slight haze. Nice off white slightly tinging towards orange colored head with decent lacing, creamy looking with mostly small bubbles. Good but not great lacing, leaves a ring around the edge.
Smell is nice, very hoppy, it doesn't mess around and it's straight to the point. Super citrus aromas, but mostly grapefruit, and on top of that a little bit of tropical fruits like pineapple and melon. Some nice sweetness that tickles the nose too, a really great smelling IPA.
Taste is good as well, wasn't as bitter as I initially thought, based on the smell, which is a good thing. Some buiscuty bread sweetness, sort of like an orange cake or shortbread. However despite the sweetness, the hops are the dominant feature here, huge amounts of citrusy hop flavors like grapefruit and lemon zest, also some slight pine flavors as well. Really good and pretty well balanced, very bold.
Mouthfeel is really good. Strong medium bodied and a nice carbonation level. Pretty smooth and like many things Founders brews, it just has a high quality feel to it. It's very well balanced starting off with some slight sweetness and goes to a nice bitter finish that is mostly clean, a little zesty. Overall a really good IPA, I feel it's one of the less talked about year round IPAs. Another really good brew from Founders.
