Appearance: Centennial IPA pours a golden-orange mahogany. The generous head gives a clear indication of lots of hops.
Smell: The aroma is primarily of hops, but plenty of malt is clearly present as well.
Taste: Mmmm, just how an IPA should taste! It's undoubtedly hoppy, but not at the cost of balance. These hops add flavor more than bitterness. A malty caramel sweetness also makes an appearance.
Mouthfeel: Thin-to-medium-bodied, and not as sharp as some IPAs, which is a good thing.
Drinkability: The low bitterness of this beer makes Centennial an IPA one could visit a few times a session.
Notes: How's another example that Founders really knows how to brew 'em, regardless of style. Nearly every Founders beer I've tried ranks high in its respective style, Centennial included. I really dig balanced, malty IPAs, and this is one of them.
This bottle is well over six months old, so I'm sure it's lost some of its punch. That's alright, since I generally most enjoy the mellower IPAs anyway. Still, I'd like to try some fresh Centennial to see how much of a kick it has.
