Founders Centennial IPA is a beer that I've had in bottles before and was not impressed with. I felt that the bitterness was harsh and it was oxidized, but on draft (and form a growler), this is a FANTASTIC IPA. I guess this is probably a common phenomenon with very flavorul, hoppy beers that just don't keep well, which is probably why Pliny the Elder is hardly available outside of Northern California in bottle form--great IPA's do not travel well and suffer from storage.
This IPA has the best raw hop flavor of any beer I've had. I think that as a homebrewer, I am exposed to the best ingredients in raw and final form--this beer tastes and smells just like Centennial hops from a new vacuum sealed pack. It has that fruit loops aroma, with a woody depth and grapefruit punch. On the pallet, the hops provide great flavor of fresh peeled pomelo and juicy tangerines. The malt contributes a bit of caramel sweetness and solid body that makes for a luscious well-rounded beer.

In a can-shaped glass.
A- Amber body, some cloudiness and no carbonation visible. Foamy light head that plateaus and leaves lots of lace.
S- Orange citrus and sweet caramel plus subtle pineyness.
T- Mellow citrus and a good dose of caramel. Pineyness is there too. The nose and tongue are very consistent. But good.
M- This beer is bitter, but not overwhelming. Average carbonation. Medium-bodied and with a hint of booziness.
Overall, a top-notch IPA and one that can stand above the rest of the crowd.
