12 oz pour into Dogfish Head contoured pint glass. Bottle date, yes a bottle date on a Founders weird I know, is 01/03/11 10 days old.
Pours a crystal clear honey brown with a one finger head that leaves nice spotty lacing as the level drops, and it drops quite fast with this beer.
Smell is a bit faint but is of light somewhat pale malts with a bit of Centennial hops citrus flower. Nice but I wish there were more.
Taste is very nice with a plewasant hop bitterness up front followed by a sweet hop flavor. Not the plethora of tropical flavors to be found in other Centennial hopped IPAs, but more of a citrus leaf/flower flavor with ever so slight green grass/leaf essence. A nice though ligher malt flavor than was indicated by the color. Lighter in roastyness not amount of flavor. Reminds me of the base malt in Founders Red's Rye without the rye bite. Extremely well balanced!
Mouthfeel is good for the style, lighter than some, well carbonated, but not watery at all.
Very drinkable, hops are not too lingering or overpowering nor is it too heavy.
I've had this beer many times, but this is by far the freshest and it really perks up being this young. It's hard not to compare it to the neighboring Bell's Two Hearted which is also a single hopped Centennial IPA. While I love the tropical goodness of Two Hearted and I would still (barely) rate it ahead of this beer, I think I would drink more of the Founders durinng a night out. It's the more balanced mature drink in my opinion. Leans a little more to what I percieve the english style to be as opposed to some of the american, completely unbalanced, hop monsters.
Excellent beer I highly recommend it!

12oz can poured into a pint glass.
A: Amber/orange in color, and a few shades darker than the average for the style. Healthy off white head retains well at a half inch. Light rings of lacing.
S: Lemon drop candy, sweet sticky bud, tangerine and other tropical fruits. Juicy fruit gum. Substantial malt base smells of caramel with subtle whiffs of candy shell.
T: Dank and earthy up front, but the hop tastes soon begin to divulge tangerine, lemon head candy, and maybe even passion fruit. Bitterness is firm but gentle. The malt body is a bit big-boned and brings things into balance, which is by no means a bad thing. Caramel, marmalade, light toast, and perhaps a bit of candy apple shell. The finish is very balanced and mellow, but leaves a lot of flavor lingering. Dank earthy hops, tropical fruits, and caramel.
M: Hefty medium body. Malt textures are full, silky, and a bit chewy, though it sits rather lightly in the stomach. Ample carbonation has just a bit of a crisp bite that barley cuts through the malt body. Lightly astringent. Awesome texture, it really glides over the tongue.
O: This is one of those great IPAs that manages to please the drinker with a boatload of hop flavor, yet counter it perfectly with a malt body that holds its own. It strikes the perfect balance between hop bitterness and malty sweetness, and is absurdly drinkable because of this. This is tasting amazing coming from the can.

Poured a little amber in color with a tiny tight head. There wasn't a lot of bouquet from this one. I expected a bit more hoopy and citrus/grapefruit aroma from this one considering the IBU.
It was very clean and crisp with a light delightful taste. The after taste was clean
Overall a nice beer from founders, cant find anything wrong with it, but on the other hand I cant sing its praise
Tasted this one again from a can. I was more than totally happy and surprise with just how much I enjoyed this beer.
It had a fair amount of hops, nothing over the top, but just enough to give you that pleasant dry flavor. The aftertaste was lingering and totally enjoyable.
This beer moved up for me.
