A deep red amber color with a stiff finger of head that is quite clear.
Not a strong aroma, but a decent amount of sweet citrus, a bit of floral notes, along a good amount of sweet caramel malt.
With taste, you get a good initial rush of hop and juicy citrus of grapefruit. It mingles with a gentle sweetness. The middle then turns into a good amount of grapefruit pith, floral notes, with a stiffer finish of pine.
This really is a well balanced IPA. It has this great citrus note, but also the pine feeling of a West IPA. Great mouthfeel. Clean finish. Just so well rounded . Good bitterness, a light clean body without being too sweet or sticky.
One of my favorite IPAs and stands as one of the standards for the style.
This is of a super fresh bottle dated 10/17/13.
