I am not much of an IPA fan. I bit bitter, but crisp and fruity.

I concur somewhat with the Founder's website:

Get ready to bask in the glory of the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the citrus accents from the abundance of dry hopping. This one’s sweet, yet balanced. Malty undertones shake hands with the hop character for a finish that never turns too bitter.

A 355ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2014. Acquired recently from Trembling Madness in York. Another US IPA with a great reputation - time to find out....

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A rich coppery-orange hue with visible sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a frothy surface layer. Some lacing. Aroma of intensely spicy, resinous hops with notes of pine, grapefruit and citrus. This is underpinned by a substantial backbone of caramel malt, grain, stewed hops and earthy yeast. Fantastic.

Tastes overwhelmingly of dank aromatic hops with an extreme bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, weed, a hint of grapefruit, caramel malt, mild grain, stewed hops and earthy yeast. Well-attenuated and highly astringent, followed by a profound and lingering bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly, spicy and very dry, with decent carbonation and good body. Excoriates the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, pine/weed and caramel malt.

A big IPA with a big flavour - Founders don't do anything by halves. It looks decent, while the aroma and flavour assault the senses with a non-stop hop overload. Good, thick body. Head retention could be better, but otherwise this is great. A hop-head's delight; well worth sampling if you have the chance.

Pours a hazy deep amber orange with a slight beige head that fell pretty fast to a film and thin ring. Ok lacing. Nose is sugary caramel malt with some deeply sweet tropical notes. leans toward pineapple and guava and mango. Not very tart on the nose and only a light pine. Candied lemon peel and a little soft spice. First sip is nutty malt with almost none of that fruit until the mid palate where some tart grapefruit and citrus twang fall in with some hop oil bitter. Alcohol is warming. Toasted malt grain. Finishes quickly and somewhat dry with some resin. It's crisp and has a medium body. The malt is quite full and it drinks a little heavy without as much sweetness as on the nose.

I am not over the top with this although I think it's a solid IPA.
