Founders is probably one of the most reliably good brewers out there, so why do they keep blowing me away with their beers?

A: clear pale-to-medium amber beer with a quick 1-2 finger head that slims down into a sheen

S: rich, crisp, deep pine hoppiness sitting atop a hearty, earthy malt base

T: piney and resinous hops to start, more citrusy on the finish; nice robust malt profile, subtle sweetness

M: well-rounded, medium body, great aftertaste, super drinkable

O: sublime.

Pours blood orange. Nice off-white head with decent retention. Well marked lacings to the finish.

Bold citrus and pine on the nose. Distinctly Centennial, as you'd hope from a varietal.

Big and juicy up front. Throws a tone of tropical fruit at you with resinous bitterness. Mellows to mango sweetness and finished with barely perceptible caramel malt.

Nice medium body, perfect carbonation.

A great AIPA. Really shows off the Centennial.

Poured from a bottle into a lager glass.

A- Pours a light amber with a medium orange hue. No head, And no lacing.

S- Smells very pine like with some slight grapefruit coming through. If inhaled even harder, You can find a strong hint of grape flavored water. Not too complex, But nice.

T- This is a pine-heavy IPA. The taste is of strong, Almost gin like pine, With some weird burnt malt in the background. Definitely an interesting taste.

M-The mouthfeel remains predominantly pine like. Allowing some more toasted malt character to come through. Along with a medium amount of sour apple.

O- Overall, This is a solid IPA. Nothing overly impressive, Although a good example of the style. Would I buy it again? Sure.

12oz into a pint

A - Pours a brown to copper color. Light white head formation, breaks down to a film...only a bit of lacing. Appears to be hazy - matching the unfiltered nature.

S - A combination of a strong malt profile, caramel and a little bit of nuttiness, and citrus hops. Also a nice resinous bitter backdrop - strong but not really all that potent for an IPA.

T - Starts off lightly malty with caramel malts, but is immediately turned bitter by a citrus american hops note. Some resin, lots of bitterness. Finishes with a bitter oily texture on the tongue.

M - Balanced mouthfeel, both full bodied and corresponding carbonation. A sticky mouthfeel, so I get alot of sugary leftover flavors.

O/D - A very respectable IPA. Full bodied, full of ABV, but all of those seem to integrate very well. Could be more of a cold weather IPA vs. some of the lighter versions of the style.
