Appearance -Pours a darker than avearge ipa color. small half a finger head.
Smell - Pine and citrus notes this is definately and ipa.
Taste - The first half pint was amazing, the second half I started to think this may be too hoppy for me. To me this is probably the hoppiest beer I've had (more than Hop Stoopid, Racer 5, etc).
Mouthfeel - I'd say medium to light, drinkable as far as mouthfeel.
Overall - I drank two tonight and it's definately very hoppy. Check back with me in a month and I may not even taste the hops any more. I tend to drink more and more hoppy beers and get used to them, Definatetly a beer anyone who is serious about beer needs to try.

A rich and brilliant copper/amber hue is the body. Just shy of a finger's worth of egg shell white head forms at the top, receding quickly after the pour. Its natural hazy body adds more appeal for me because I can begin to imagine the hoppy goodness that's packed within.
Fresh pine, herbal grapefruit, sticky apricots and tangy lemon dance over a sweet bready core that's responsible for its high alcohol content. Fresh, clean, and not in your face. I would like the nose to carry a bigger punch but it seems to be on the right track.
Ahh, the taste packs the punch I was looking for. Bright, clean, and big notes of lemon grass, pine, and even a bit of lime assault the palate with their lingering bitterness. The hop character in the finish leans more towards being leafy, herbal, and raw. The malty backbone is well rendered. It doesn't take away from the bitter and bright glory of the hops but it does help to give it both weight and body.
For an IPA, the malt and hops work perfectly together making it incredibly well balanced. Its heftier body is the only giveaway for its stated ABV.
Founders Curmudgeon's Better Half was the only other offering I've had from this brewery up until this point. Although I'd take the aforementioned beer over this most days, that doesn't say much. This is a clean, bright, and well balanced IPA that satisfies my hop fix while still remaining very drinkable. Big thumbs up.

I've had this bottled a number of times but now also on tap at the Grog Shop. The tap version is VERY similar to bottled, but somehow seems tamer and more balanced. Smoother too.
Regardless, Centennial is a hoppy, pungent AIPA as they should be. Interesting, robust and unique. This is one of my favorite Founders, along with Double Trouble. Nice.

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. bottled 6-25-12.
pours out a beautifully clear burnt orange color, maybe even a slight hue of red noticable. a nice 1-2 fingers of slightly off white head that has some good retention and leaves some nice thick webby lace. looks ideal.
citrus, pine and some woody hops in the aroma. a little caramel malt trying to poke through the all the hop aromas.
wow, simple, yet amazing. before i knew it, the glass was gone, very sessionable. again, grapefruit citrus and pine lead the way with some woody hops as well. just the right amount of a slightly sticky caramel malt makes a nice balance. finishes with a slightly sharp hop bitterness.
medium in body, resinous feel, slightly sticky, slightly dry.
this deserves every bit of praise it gets. just an all around super enjoyable, super drinkable IPA. thank god it finally made its way to buffalo.
