poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a new belgium snifter. no visible freshness or bottling date.

A- hazy, dark amber. very thin white head even with a fairly aggressive pour. Lacing strggling to hang on.

S- pine and citrus in a very pleasing mixture, but I must admit the smell is a little underwhelming. It is a great smell, there just isnt much of it. I am going to call that a good thing for the purposes of this review.

T- Biscuits and grapefruit topped with pine. More bitter than I would have thought for 65 little bitty IBUs. Impressed in fact with the balance. I totally get the malt, but it is so slight and the hops so flavorful that I dont seem to mind the malt this time around. Most brews with any malt at all turn me off. No way I would ever think this brew was over 7% abv. Very well hidden booze.

M- Much more carbonation that I expect from the style, which surprised me after the really thin head. What seems like billions of tiny, exploding CO2 bubbles dance around the mouth and tickle the throat. This is another thing that usually turns me off, but it seems to be perfect in this particular brew.

O- Well done. I bought it on a recommendation from a guy who worked at the store where I bought it. Once I saw the Bros thought it was World-Class, I was excited to try it. Not a let-down at all. Would definitely buy again when I can get two days off in a row.

bottled on date of 11/15/2011. Got to this one a little bit late, but it been in the fridge the entire time I have had this beer. It should still taste good though, even though its not fresh as I like this style.

poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: hazy golden orange bodied beer with a easily three fingers head that is dence and thick. As head fades it becomes clumpy and remains dense.

Smell: pine, grapefruit, oranges, pineapple and floral notes.

Taste: moderately bitter with a nicely balanced malt profile! Hops taste a little earthy with lots of pine, citris(grapefruit and oranges), pineapple. The malts are bready, biscuity, and mild caramel sweetness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Smooth, balanced, and drinkable IPA. Fairly big IPA at 7.2%, no booze is noticed and it drinks like it 4 or 5%.

Overall: Really nice hoppy beer by Founders. I have passed this beer up soooo many times. What was i thinking! Get yourself a sixer of this its hot out; its a great summer beer for hopheads!

A--Burnt orange with a beautiful thick creamy head. Stays around throughout the duration of the beer.
S--Pine trees, orange, honeysuckle...very floral smell.
T--Not an incredibly hoppy IPA. Grapefruit and piney hops with a caramel sort of sweetness in the background. Definitely hop forward, but not overwhelming or overly bitter. Alcohol is very well hidden--could not smell or taste it at all.
M--Creamy, thick, and smooth.
O--Not entirely crazy about IPA's, but I can certainly appreciate how good this one is.

bottle date: 01/20/12 (or a month and 3 days old)

A: Hazy orange amber in color and topped with a light tan head. retention is ok and lacing is alright as well.

S: Tangerine and subtle pine needle.

T: Juicy and bright this carries a lot of bitterness. Tangerine pith and other citrus rind flavors meet with a somewhat subdued forest floor quality. Balancing malt sweetness shows a biscuity character and is not overwhelming leaving lots of room for hop driven expression.

M: prickly

O: lots of character and very hop driven, this is a darn good ipa. With its medium body and bright this is a great everyday IPA. At a month old this is still very good, I would expect that earlier on it has even more potential.

Hazy golden orange with lots of little unfiltered floaties. It has a smallish creamy off-white head that quickly went to a thin film and laced the glass. Heavy citrus aroma backed up by light malts. Flavor is spicy and sweet hops, a great combination with enough malt to back up the sweetness. Very drinkable and the alcohol is slightly hidden.
