A - Slightly cloudy and reddish in color. Nice frothy white head that lingers around.

S - Pine resin and hops.

T - Very grassy with pine shining through. Sweet malt throughout and ends with a light bitterness.

M - Light body and medium carbonation.

O - Interesting but I expected more out of a solid company like Founders. Not memorable at all.

Tulip glass.

A: a cloudy orange color with a frothy finger of head

S: citrus, hops and pine

T: incredible balance between the hops, citrus and malts. The transition between flavors is smooth and unnoticeable.

M: light (very much so for an IPA); crisp and refreshing

O: one of my favorite IPAs. A superior blending and transitioning of the flavors resulting in a delicious IPA.

On tap at Urge.

A: Dark orange with a slight reddish tinge. Dark in color for an IPA. Clear body with an inch of beige froth.

S: Tangerine flesh melds with grapefruit rind and orange flesh. Lightly floral with some pine. The nose gives the impression of balance, with insistent bread and caramel notes.

T: Expressive orange and grapefruit flesh with balancing caramel and bread and a moderate sweetness. Maltier than I expected. There's some orange pith and a little alcohol in the finish. The beer is moderately bitter throughout.

M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky, smooth, and dry.

Overall: Solid but unmemorable. I wish I'd ordered a taster rather than a pint.

This brewery recently entered Iowa, filling the gaps left by Flying Dog, Left Hand, etc. I'm quite pleased with their products so far.

It pours a dark, cloudy amber with plenty of foam. The aroma is mostly hops with a hint of pine. The taste is nicely hopped with pine and citrus. It's a tad dryer than a typical IPA, but still good, along with the higher than average ABV. The body is fitting for a heavier IPA, and the aftertaste doesn't leave that stinging sensation. I really like this one!

Appearance: The clear amber colored liquid arrives at the bar topped by a couple of inches of foam that leave a nice pattern of lace

Smell: Grapefruit pith and pine with a hint of toffee

Taste: The toffee arrives up front and provides the backbone for the dominance of grapefruit pith and pine; crisp and clean with a bitter, citrusy finish though the malts persist underneath

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with crisp carbonation

Overall: My kind of IPA - lots of citrusy hop flavor and just enough backbone from the malt

On tap in a pint glass. Good off white head with some thickness, but didn't last too long. Aroma is rich. Some definite malt scent, but more hoppy, with a variety of choices - some citrus, but more floral, with a little pine for good measure. Taste us excellent for the style. Good balance, but obviously for the style, the hops shine. I'd say the piney hops come through the clearest, but there's a complex mix there. Mouthfeel is just right, with a medium body and good carbonation. Overall, a very fine ipa that I would love to spend some more time with.

This beer poured a dark, clear amber with a thin white head that maintains a constant blanketing throughout drinking. Love the depth of color and constant effervescence. I poured this beer before it was ice cold which really helped to bring out the citrusy hops and sweetness. The taste is crisp and delightfully hoppy with mouthwatering citrus, candy sweetness, and a dry finish. Overall this beer is an outstanding IPA with potent hops and a lingering sweetness. It's definitely a beer that will quench your thirst & hop fix.

No enjoy by date.
Poured slowly into a standard pint glass.

A: A thin light beige head formed during the pour and disapated slowly. The brew is a copper/orange and cloudy with a fairly small amount of carbon bubbles raising through to the surface.

S: Pine resin with some underlying caramel/honey-like sweetness.

M: Medium body and not much carbonation makes this beer smooth and easily drinkable for this level of ABV.

T: A bright grassy flavor comes first along with some pine resin, then a brief caramel malt muscles its way to the forefront, and it ends with a strong and pleasant lingering bitterness.

O: A very nice american style IPA. Both the hops and the malt are balanced at a very high level and in-your-face type of way. Bold and likable. The bright pop of grassy resin in the beginning and the lasting pleasant bitterness make this beer standout in today's crowded field of top notch (and near miss) IPA's.

A: Pours a light amber-orange, light white head.

S: Rich hops, a bit of malt. Basic, flat smell.

T: Hoppy, but not overly so. Just right: not too bitter, not too sweet.

M: Very smooth and drinkable, crisp.

O: A solid IPA, exactly what you expect an IPA to taste like. That is: good, but not particularly interesting.

A: Pours a very light hazy golden copper in color with some very light amounts of visible carbonation and quite a bit of tiny particles of sediment in suspension. The beer has a finger tall beige head that reduces to a thin film covering 95% of the surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Quite a strong aroma of multiple kinds of hops - I get intense aromas of grapefruit, citrus, and floral hops.

T: The beer has a very nice malt body that matches well with the intense flavors of the different hops and balances the beer out. There are grapefruit, citrus, and floral hop notes along with some pine/resin oiliness.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp and slightly dry in the finish.

O: This beer is quite easy to drink and enjoyable, hiding the ABV quite well. This beer is a little too intense and too strong (ABV) to be a sessionable beer.

A - Orange pour. Nice foamy head, with some carbonation. Clarity is nice on this one.

S - Smells flowery, and fruity. First thing I thought of was Fruit Loops cereal. Nice scent, but seemed like it was a bit artificial.

T - Mild flavors of malt and a gentle bite of hops at the end that add some citrus notes to the flavor.

M - An easily sessionable beer that if paired wth a spicy dish would make the fruit sweetness even more enjoyable.

O - Interesting beer, but not nearly as notewrothy as some of Founder's other offerings.
