Had probably 6-7 glasses of this over a few visits to the Founders brewpub. By far the best thing that they had on tap while there.
Pours a midnight black with a touch of mocha-colored head along with some 's' shaped swirls. Smells strongly of vanilla, fig newtons, with a sweet bourbon undertone. The taste is similar and very sweet, with slight roasted malts, spices and more vanilla, leaving a maple syrup aftertaste. The maple is not as pronounced as with the CBS or Sappy Slappy Bastard, but very well integrated into the beer.
Great mouthfeel with a medium to heavier viscosity, medium carbonation and somewhat chewy. This goes down way too easily and on my first visit I found myself finishing my 4th glass and contemplating another glass but instead went with a Sappy Slappy (which was not as good). The second visit I made sure to slow the pace knowing that this can sneak up on you.
Another great maple syrup barrel aged beer from Founders. Hope that this can make it's way to bottles sometime soon.

2010 vintage on tap at Barcade Brooklyn.
Dark brown body, nearly opaque. Some tan head and silky brown lace up top. Too bad it smells like nail polish. Acetone++
Old ale malt base joins the dry yeast and maple barrels to create a unique profile. Boozy, roasty, spikes of sweetness, finishes dry. Not much biscuit left. Did I mention boozy?
Glad I got to try this, but I wouldn't seek it out again.

Had what might be the last hand bottle from a quarter barrel and this beer did not disappoint the crowd. It held up was the general thought. The carbonation was nearly perfect for an ale. The flavors were great, sweet syrup, chocolate and strong boozy feel. Good stuff.
