Poured from 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

A) This is clear looking light amber, with a good amount of bubbles. A rather aggressive pour still yielded a rather small foamy head, that had minimal retention. No lacing noted.

S) Not a powerful aroma but a pleasing one. Faint citrus and lighter still pine surrounded by pleasing grains.

T) Very nice balance. Grapefruit, light pine and a little grass, blend together with a hint of sweetness and grain that bring it all together.

M) Rather light and well carbonated. Crisp, refreshing and smooth all wrapped up together. Finish and aftertaste are pleasant and clean. What an easy drinker this is....

O) While this is far from the beer nirvana that some of Founders other offerings provide a craft drinker. It is clearly as advertised, one heck of a session ale. I could drink these on the patio all summer. Gladly recommended.

FOUNDERS All Day IPA

LOOK: Deep golden bordering on copper color, fine clarity, head dies down quickly but that may be the humid and hot weather.

SMELL: Herbal, citrus, pine, cat pee, hops.

TASTE: More herbal citrus, with a decent hop bite and medium to intense bitterness. Pine. Leafy, earthy, hoppy. Malt body does just enough to balance, pale malts and possibly caramunich or caramel.

FEEL: Lighter bodied for a ipa, small bite, good carbonation.

OVERALL: All day baby. All day. Solid IPA, always welcome ontap or the fridge. Would pair nicely with a spicy curry or some Mexican food.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Libbey stout.

A: Pours a glowing light orange with a decent white head. A little bit of retention and lacing.

S: Nice mild grapefruit and sweet, grainy malt in the nose.

T: Weak grapefruit with some mild bitterness and spiciness at first, followed by a big, lasting dose of sweet, coarse grain.

M: Very fine carbonation, almost medium-bodied.

O: Decent pale ale. Weak hops in the taste redeemed slightly by a nice grainy malt backbone.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into english pint glass.

Pours a clear gold color that you can read through. Great clarity. Thinnish, white head. Appears to have moderate carbonation.

Light aroma. Get mostly pine hops, with a dash of grapefruit citrus hops thrown in. Light, toasty caramel malt background.

The caramel malt comes through first, although fairly light. Vibrant pine and citrus comes through. Lightly bitter, but not overly so. A slightly acidic note comes through from the carbonation.

Fairly light in body for an ipa. Moderate carbonation as expected. Extremely drinkable.

This beer is exactly as advertised. If you want a low alcohol, flavorful session beer, this is what you've been looking for. Fairly well balanced. They did a nice job of making sure the bitterness of the hops didn't overshadow the malt. I probably could throw back a 6er of this in a night.

Clear, light bronze in color. Maybe just a little haze. Good bubbling, nice head and foam.

Rsiny, citric ip bitterness aroma with some cracker, toasted malt aroma. Hop dominatnt for sure. Crisp and clean too.

Grapefruit and lemon peel bitterness to the point of being a little metallic. A little toasted, water cracker malt in the middle. But mostly astringent mouthfeel with a little metallic twang.

Easy to drink and refreshing. Had one after mowing the lawn today.

Bottled 3/2/12

A: Medium honey/gold. Really good clarity, small white head. Not much lacing.

S: Nice zesty citrus and lemon nose. Some sweetness as well. Kind of reminds me of double trouble in a way. Smells way stronger than I thought it would, really surprised by that.

T: Lemon and light pine hops. A bit of grapefruit and just a hint of sweetness. Not much of an aftertaste and it dies off pretty quick as to be expected with a sessionable IPA. Still lots of flavor packed in here.

M: Light body, average carbonation.

O: Of course this is very easy drinking, they definitely accomplished that. A good amount of hops and flavor and the nose is fantastic. For what it is, I think Founders did a great job as usual.

Clear crimson body with very slight golden hue with a somewhat thin white head with little lacing. Floral, citrus (orange and pineapple) and pine aroma. Flavor is a touch tangy with mild malt presence with more of the same from the aroma in the flavor with the floral hops coming across more grassy. Lighter side of medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall the hop profile is complex which is accentuated by the mild malt presence.

Purchased on a recent trip to Grand Rapids, MI. Poured from a date-stamped bottle: bright and clear with a deep golden hue with honey highlights. The minimal white-head dissipated quickly.

This one was fragrant with citrus and bittersweet tropical fruit; more aromatic than many larger IPAs.

The first sip was zesty and thirst quenching with a noticeable hop profile. The hop citrusy hop bitterness lingers on the tongue. The flavor profile is not very complex with a faint malt presence.

The body was rather thin with a clean and short-lived mouthfeel. A pleasant bitterness does linger slightly on the tongue.

This is a quite enjoyable session 'IPA' that has a lot of nice flavor for lighter ale. To me, this drinks like a hoppy, American pale ale. I now regret only buying one six pack.

Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a half finger of off white head. The head fades to a ring around the edge of the pour.

Smell: There is a very mild malty sweetness up front along with a mild hop presence.

Taste: There is a mild pine hop flavor up front and the bitterness builds though the whole sip. There isn't really enough other stuff going on to back up the bitterness.

Mouthfeel: The body is on the thin side of medium with prickly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: Not a bad beer, it's good for what they brewed it for. I think they could have gone a little more conservative with the hops.

Tasted in the bottle purchased at Binny's (Des Plaines) craft your own six pack.

Was interested in this one, since it was brewed in the Midwest, plus the picture on the label is of a jeep with a canoe on top heading to the lake was a familiar sight to me growing up. The name is fun too, and why not introduce a lower alcohol version of an IPA?

I am glad to have tasted this one, because it helps to define the American IPA label and really show how vast the choices can be under it. In other words, it doesn't have to be a blowout in bitterness or a slow drinker to be enjoyed.

The taste, while subdued, is piney, with a bitter edge that is not really strong but is definitely present. It finishes clean and refreshing, and doesn't weigh you down.

I welcome that balance. Good job, Founders.

Pours a rich yellow with a frothy white head that fades into lacing. Smell is fruity and sweet with the hop bouquet. A unique smell coming out that is very inviting. Taste has the subtle sweet and fruitiness, but the hop comes through in a big way, with a pine mixing in with the fruit notes. This is a lighter medium mouthfeel, a nice balance in flavors, good depth. Overall good flavor, a nice IPA that has no bitterness, and is very enjoyable.

6-pack from Total Wine, Charlotte (Park Road).

A: Pours a pale, straw gold into a shaker pint glass; a half-finger, fizzy white head leaves no lace.

S: Tropical fruit hoppiness: mango, apricot, peach - pretty rindy; virtually no malt.

T: Pretty similar to the nose; tropical fruit syrup; sweet - but not really a malt sweetness.

M: Light body; high carbonation; not too dry.

O: Well, its pretty drinkable / nice and tasty at 4.7%... definitely a good summertime IPA - I wish it came in cans so I could take it to the beach.

Thanks, dannyfrost!

Clear golden orange with a very small bone-white head that doesn't last long. This leaves the glass nearly clean on the way down.

The best part of this beer is it's aroma and it consists of pine and grapefruit hop aromas, along with a bit of biscuit.

Very simple, drinkable IPA. This is not hugely flavorful, but what's here is nice. There's mild grapefruit and pine, cracker and biscuit, and some grass elements.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

A very simple, straightforward, boring low ABV IPA.

A. Pours out a dark yellow hue with little lacing and not much retention.
S. The aroma consists of citrus, floral and pine from the hops.
T. The taste I get in this beer is some citrus and floral hops, but I mostly taste pine throughout the beer and get a mix of pine and citrus in the aftertaste.
M. A nice easy to drink IPA that has a smooth consistency to it.
O. A very nice IPA to enjoy when you feel like something that tastes very good, but is lower in alcohol than most IPAs.

A stunning amount of flavour for the 4% ABV listed on the chalk board at the pub attached to the brewery.

Bright golden colour with limited head and no lacing. Not a tremendous amount of body, but enough for mouthfeel to remain pleasant. An awesome "west coast" hop aroma with brilliant citrus notes. The flavour is heavily grapefruit oriented and truly delicious. A lingering bitter aftertaste completes this very tasty beer.

Definitely a stellar "session" ale!

Nice floral bouquet with a slight maltiness.

Light body and easy on the mouth. High CO2 level

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, All Day IPA is a clear, golden yellow color with a one finger, soapy, yellow-white head. Nose is all west coast hops, thick with citrusy grapefruit notes and resinous pine. The flavor is a bit more muted than the nose, the citrusy and resinous pine flavors are seeminly watered down, but are well balanced with the malt bill to leave something that does go down, well, sessionable. Mouthfeel is light in body with a medium carbonation. Overall, not my go-to IPA but if I was going to try to drink all day with my BMC buddies, this would definitely be a more flavorful alternative that you could actually drink more than a couple of (as advertised).

On tap at the brewery

A- Clear golden pour with a finger of white head. Lacing is great.

S- Grapefruit, pineapple, lemon and mandarin oranges. Can't believe how hop forward it is without being overly strong.

T- Grapefruit, mandarin, mango and strawberry. Just wonderful all around.

M- Light and refreshing, great carbonation, exactly what you need in a ipa.

12oz bottles into snifter. Thanks for these Jay! Bottled 3/2/12.

A: Pours a clear glowing golden with a finger of bubbly off-white head that slowly faded into a thin wispy film. Decent lace.
S: Insane nose on this one! I get notes of fresh tropical fruit nectars, mango, papaya, grapefruit, tangerine and even a hint of peach. Hops are super fruity and bright. I get a hint of doughy malt in the background.
T: Follows the nose but the flavor is not as tropical. I still get notes of tropical fruit nectar, mango, and orange/tangerine. The finish is clean and refreshing, and the aftertaste has a low bitterness.
M: The body is on the lighter side of medium with a smooth and slick mouthfeel that’s a tad thin but very refreshing. Carbonation is low and soft.
O: Refreshing and easy to drink, exactly as advertised. If this were available to me I’d drink it all day long. Thanks again jbck109!

Thanks to 4DAloveofSTOUT for just giving this to me haha.

A- Clear golden in color with a short white head on top. short lived head with spotty retention.

S- Real dank, clean, citrus smelling.

T- Mimics the nose exactly. Just a bright, clean, floral/citrus hoppy beer.

M- Thin to medium-thin mouthfeel. Lower carbonation, which is surprising.

D/O- Gotta bump up the drinkability a ton on this one. It packs the hop goodness without the alcohol to go with the average IPA/craft beer. Now if we could just work on the price a little...maybe a 12pack for $12ish?

pick this up at the brewery at KBS release day.

poured into tulip.

Appearance: brillant yellow bodied beer with a 3 fingers bone white head. Spotty lace on the glass. As the head drops its dense and chunky.

Smell: This nose is all pine and citrus. The malts are barely there and them smell like grain.

Taste: Mild hop bitterness in this beer. Pine upfront followed by oranges that are matching the pine notes in strength. Finishing with a hint of grapefruit and lemons. Mild bitterness that lingers for a short while after a sip. This beer is almost all hops, but you get a just a hint of buttermilk buiscuits for the malt profile.

Mouthfeel: Light boided beer with moderate carbonation. Crisp, clean, refreshing, and delicate session ale. Well carbonated beer. You get what you were promised by founders.

Overall: Another nice beer by founders. If you have a 6er of this beer I would say you are ready for summer, grilling, and whatever else you do on a hot day besides drinkn good beer!

Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a fluffy white head that laces.

Smells of grapefruit citrus with some pine backing, somewhat soapy...a nice interplay between the two, almost classic in nature.

Taste is up front citrus that goes into a more grapefruit/citrus middle and ends with slight bitterness and a citric/grapefruit note. Think SNPA.

Lighter to Medium body with medium carbonation. Thinner body but fine for what it is.

Classic pale ale here that is lighter on flavor but easy to drink.

Golden orange color, white medium head, and not very much head retention or lace. Smells great. Sweet light malt blanketed in various hoppy aromas. Dark mouth-watering citrus, pungent woody pine sap, green apples, leaves, candied lemon, and various floral notes. Taste has a lot of pine, spruce, almost minty flavors mixed with citrus rinds, all with brisk carbonation and steady bitterness throughout. Texture is smooth with a bit of dry graininess. Resiny...in a good IPA kind of way where it meshes well with the bitterness. I enjoy this IPA. This could be a sessionable IPA I suppose.

This beer is for anyone who enjoys the citra hop....the most amazing hop. The taste and smell of this beer is a perfectly blended pine and bitter citrus. The malt is just enought to give me a woody. Mouthfeel is lighter in body good carbonation... an absolute winner!
