I really like this beer. All the hoppy goodness and full flavor of a true IPA. Lower alcohol. Great session brew. Will keep buying as long as they keep making. (159 characters)

This is a drink - every - day IPA. It doesn't try to hard to be bitter, but it has flavor that an IPA enthusiast should appreciate. Not as floral as some other Founders offerings, this draft is worth a slow afternoon. (217 characters)

Nice deep amber color. Hoppy, piney and sappy. Slight citrus under-note. Crisp bite. Pure hoppy IPA flavor. Medium body and carbonation. just enough bitters. (164 characters)

This is one of my favorite summer time session beers. I also love that its available in the 15-pack of cans over the strict 6 or 12 of bottles, making it easy to bring on summer rafting trips, or golfing, or to music festivals, or wherever you'd like.

Founder's does not seem to skimp on the flavor or the quality here, its a good ipa, and a no brainer for me on a summer event day. (384 characters)

Might be the first beer I actually crave. Love the flavor, not too light, not too strong. Crisp. Hoppy, but not soapy. Great for summer, though might have a regular place in the fridge. (185 characters)

I have been known to enjoy a variety or two of Founder’s Brewing Co. based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I hadn’t gotten around to reviewing this variety which is a session IPA weighing in at 4.7% ABV and 42 IBUs.

Look-It pours a light golden amber color with yellow gold hues in the light that are reminiscent of ancient
Aztec golden treasures. It pours a one finger head that settles to a thin film pretty quickly and leaves a mild lacing trail on its way down.

Smell-I smell hops first and little malts which was a pleasant and unique surprise. The hops are citrus and floral dominated, but in a very nice manner. The smell has clementine and tangerine citrus and clover and rose petal floral hops. At the end, I also get some noticeable pine aromas. Very nice!

Taste-The taste has the same citrus and floral hops, but with the addition of pine that was ambient in the aroma, but the pine rears its delicious head towards the end. It leaves a primarily pine-based astringent coating on the tongue which is pleasant and it lingers for a long time.

Mouthfeel-I could describe this as light-bodied considering only the malts and hops, but an extra kick from the carbonation fizz towards the end makes it feel more dynamic.

Overall-This is a stunningly complex beer. As a session IPA, I was expecting wimpy and muted flavors with almost imperceptible bitterness. Cheers! (1,378 characters)

For me, this is at the top of the list as far as Session IPA's go and is a great summertime beer. I would be very surprised in a blind taste test if many could pick this out as being a Session as the flavor is robust and on point with a typical IPA.

Has a very nice aroma that is a tad sweet but the flavor is piney and malty with a hint of grapefruit. There is definitely a presence of biscuit and the finish has a hint of citrus in it.

If you are looking to introduce somebody into the world of IPA's, this would be a great gateway IPA that has everything you want without being overly bitter or robust. (613 characters)

Pours orangish with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is of hops, caramel and malt. Taste is slightly hoppy. Little bit of pine. Has a caramel malt backbone, Lingering hop sweetness. Mouthfeel is light. Body is light and very carbonated. It goes down easy, and it tastes good. Could definitely drink a few of these. (325 characters)

Enjoyed on tap. Pours a lovely gold with a thin white head that leaves plenty of lacing.
The aroma is citrus and pine.
Tasty beer, following the nose with citrus and pine up front and a decent sweet balance below. It finishes with a crisp bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium and rather smooth.
Very good session brew. (314 characters)

Poured into a pint glass. Nice citrus and hop smell very light. Taste is balanced of hops and citrus flavors. Session IPA so its on the light side, refreshing and easy drinking. Probably tied #2 with session IPAs along with Even Keel from Ballast Point. Still love Easy Jack from Firestone! Cheers! (304 characters)

12 oz. can poured into nonic
(6/24/15 born on date)

L: clear gold, brilliant with just enough amber to darken the yellow without actually looking amber; small head, maybe 1/3-inch tall of white/off-white foam; keeps a tidy white collar; no stick or lace

S: very hoppy ... onion, grass ... citrusy (lemon, grapefruit) ... the onion is pervasive

T: green grassy and onion ... almost salty/meaty, like steak and onions; not a lot of sweetness in it; some citrus notes mix in, mainly grapefruit

F: perfect. light and crisp, nothing fancy but spot on for a session brew.

O: lots of onion with a little bit of grapefruit, this one's nearly perfect for me; as it warms, a pinch of sweetness helps balance the hops. i could drink a lot of this. (748 characters)

One of the nicest aromas I've ever smelled. It's very sweet.

I've never found myself smelling the aroma of a beer over and over,
but did with this one.

Still has about 90 percent of the flavor of a regular IPA. (213 characters)

From a 12 oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

L - Pours a deep, through transparent amber with a smaller head than what I was expecting. the head is gone in about 25-30 seconds and leaves a fair amount of lacing.

S - Smells...Weak for an IPA. a tad bit of pine and grapefruit fused but not much else going on here.

T - Taste follows the smells though falls a bit thin. The low ABV is prevalent at this point in terms of underdevelopment

F - Sits flat though pleasantly. No new flavors develop.

O - It's fine if you want an easy drinker that somewhat reminds you of an IPA, but as a stand-alone IPA it was nothing I could personally recommend. " All Day IPA " for a reason. (687 characters)

The IPA that started it all for me. My intro into craft beers and IPAs. It will always have a special place in my heart! Absolutely love this beer. Super refreshing on a hot summer day!! One of the best session beers available. (227 characters)

Slow poured from a can to taste activation pint glass. Beautiful copper color with a ton of carbonation. Clean malty and floral taste without a lot of the bitterness that typically comes with an IPA (200 characters)

Ditka's in Oak Brook Terrace, IL. Bottle. Pretty good IPA. That's my review. Pretty good. There are just so many IPAs out there right now that I have a hard time differentiating. (178 characters)

Nice american IPA of a somewhat transparent yello color and a small foam that leaves almost no lace.
Taste and smell are really crispy, malty but not to much, somewhat fuity (passion fruit as the highlight) and somewhat hoppy too.
Body is light, carbonation is ok; crispiness and bitterness define the feel of this beer. (320 characters)

Hazy yellow color with a multiple finger head that leaves some lacing. Subtle aroma of hops and citrus, but nothing particularly jumping out at the nose. Taste is a pronounced version of aroma. Balanced body of citrus and hops with a decent kick from the hops at the end to remind you it is an IPA. Very smooth body that has a slightly bitter aftertaste as the beer gets warmer. Light body with medium carbonation and no alcohol aftertaste.
It was the only craft beer at a wedding and it was very good. Nice and balanced and quaffable. It's drinkable year round and was pretty good on a summer day. (605 characters)

12 oz can, tulip glass

A – Light amber in color and mostly clear. About an inch of white bubbly foam recedes quickly to about half a centimeter, which retains for a while.

S – A ton of piney hops, light resin, and some grapefruit following behind. Low malt aroma is biscuity, just browned. A touch of papaya in the hop profile as well.

T – Golden biscuit malt with a bit of bread crust. Piney-woodsy hops with a light grapefruit note. A lot of hop bite, but not excessive.

M – Moderate-high carbonation, sudsy up front. Very dry throughout, and medium-light bodied. Just a touch of sweetness, then high bitterness that builds to the finish and lingers afterward.

O – Fairly easy drinking but still bold, complex, a lot to enjoy about it. This is one of my favorite back porch, summertime beers (in the can or at least a shady spot to protect the hops, of course.) Really good beer. (922 characters)

I keep seeing the 15 pack of cans in my local liquor store for $20, and it always impresses me. It's got some really nice citrus notes, and it's easy to drink, especially during the summer. Great bang for your buck beer, and I love drinking it. (244 characters)

Pours a straw yellow with low but active carbonation. Good head froth reduces to very good lacing. Smells of pine and grapefruit. Good mouthfeel. Crisp. On the nose you get pine, herbal flowers, and grapefruit. Mid-palate you have some bitter hop notes and some spice. Lots of grapefruit, citrus, and some lemon grass. Back palate you get more bitter notes and some lemon. Aftertaste is fairly clean with lingering pine and citrus. Pretty good. Very sessionable as promised. 3.75 out of 5. (489 characters)

Summery: A great session ale... I am slightly bias to Founders beers. Still it's the value in the 15 'Brewers pack' for $17.99 that really makes me get giddy over it. Adding on to the fact that it moves rather fast at a few local shops, means I can almost always swoop this less than a month old. Such a great value and readily available go-to~ (517 characters)

A: Bright, golden-orange with a short head that dissipates quickly, leaving some lacing. Crystal clear, no haze.

S: Piney hops, with some peach/apricot thrown in.

T: Some vague piney hoppiness; not much there, to be honest.

M: Nonexistent. Very thin - aside from a bit of carbonation, this beer practically disappears as it passes over the tongue. Disappointing.

O: Looks good, smells good, but doesn't bring much to the table, so to speak. I know compromises need to be made when it comes to making session IPAs, but I expected better from Founders. (559 characters)
