I had this previously on tap, but after several other hoppy beers so i picked up a couple bottles to enjoy on a clean palate -I am glad I did. This review is from a 12oz picked up at Shady McGrady's poured chilled in a 1/2 pint.

The color is deep golden with mild hazed appearance with thick white head that settles to a ring but has good retention w/ fine bead. The smell is a nice blend of floral and slight grassy/herbal hop aromas with a mild citrus aspect. The feel is great, medium bodied with resinous hop texture and moderately high carbonation with low astringency and semi-dry finish.
The flavor is bright and has a mild citrus element with green tangy astringency from the hops which are similar to strong brewed green tea, light sweetness but not vegetal and very smooth bitterness with gentle malt backing. Overall this is a very drinkable beer I love how much hop flavor you get in a session strength beer, wonderful to sip on with mushroom pizza as it scrubs the palate and I could probably drink this on any occasion -Kudos Founders!

A: Very light amber, almost a touch of yellow to it. Effervescent foamy head that retains well.

S: Very strong, almost perfume like fruit note. Reminds of potpurri and orange soda. Not necessarily a good thing.

T: Offputting sweet flavor right off the bat, bitterness struggles to overpower it and doesn't really succeed. Perfume smell carries over to taste a little. No real malt profile.

M: Well they nailed it here, very crisp but not watery. Finishes with a little dryness that makes the bitterness pop a little, but overall its well bodied for the intent.

O: This is what IPA would taste like if Budweiser tried it. Hop finish seems artificial and the taste is all wrong. A heavily dry hopped pale would be much better than this. Its only the second bad IPA I have had, and this might be the worst of the two.

A: A nice golden yellow, a bit cloudy, has a finger of off white head at the top that leaves a good amuont of lacing around the glass.

S: Strong hop presence on the nose and taste, lots of citrus and some sweetness on the tail end, probably from the tropical fruit.

T: Exactly like the nose, lots of hops all over the place, boozie a bit, a nice sweetness on the tail end though.

M: Med to high in carbonation, smooth drinker, not to bad.

Overall this was a good beer from Founders, very simple compared to their other IPA'
s but nonetheless very drinkable.

I bought a six pack of this last weekend after enjoying many of the other Founders offerings.
A- pale clear golden brown. Not too much head/lacing
S- smelled like a skunky pine cone. I couldn't shake how awful it smelled.
T- the taste was acceptable, but the smell was even off-putting during the drink. Strong piney hop taste with a decent aftertaste
M- a bit flat, without too much appeal.
O- I can honestly say this is one of my least favorite ipas. I'm hoping I got a bad six pack. I'd try another single serving but would definitely not purchase another sixer of this one

The beer pours a nice golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great! It has a solid pale malt scent along with a killer citrus hop nose. It's light and refreshing with plenty of hop character. The taste is good. It has a great hop character that's balanced with an adequate amount of malts. It seems a bit watery, but the hops really add a good amount of complexity. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a highly drinkable beer and it's incredibly sessionable as well.

this ipa from founders is pretty drinkable but there are so many others out there that drop kick your taste buds into submission- why would you phone it in? this beer isnt bad. it pours a nice golden color. the smell makes a lot of promises- its piney and has a lot of citrus. the taste comes on strong at first and has a slight kick at the end but isnt nearly as strong as some other ipa's out there...this beer is called everyday ipa, so i guess the jokes on me, theyre telling you right out the gate that there is nothing that special about this. its not a bad beer..but with so many great ipa's out there, this seems kinda pointless.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Dogfish Head snifter.

A: Aggressive pour leads to a half-finger head. The lacing on this one was thick and plentiful.

S: Lots of hops in the nose, piney resin standing in front of citrus hops make it a delicious nose. Certainly the highlight of the beer.

T: Delicate malt in the foreground, piney hops take over midway and don't let go.

M: Crisp finish, lots of carbonation. A bit bitter on the aftertaste.

O: Decent IPA, would drink a lot of these at a party or on a hot day.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, slightly hazed copper coloring with a thin, low profile white head that quickly disappears. The nose is very fresh hop forward, with a steady dose of bitterness and resin, with an underlying sweetness of citrus fruit and caramel to balance. Flavors are much lighter than the nose would hint at. Rich caramel and tart grapefruit on the forward tongue, with a peppery dry hops characteristic immediately following. Peppery and bitter aftertaste, with some resiny properties. Mid-bodied, with a slightly dry, slightly effervescent finish. Very easy to drink, which from the title was what they were going for.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass

A: Not bad for a "session" IPA, fairly deep copperish orange, with a sizable head and some lacing.

S: Wow! Kind of like having a pine tree shoved up your nose. I honestly could not pick up anything other than pine-resiny hops. Not necessarily a bad thing, but somewhat unexpected.

T: Um ... Yuck? There is some strongly dominant flavor happening here that I just can't identify. But whatever it is, it ain't good. Given the nose, I would have expected this to have a more hop-forward flavor, and maybe that's what it is, but it ain't like any hops I've ever tasted before.

M: Nothing special, but it is sufficiently carbonated and light enough to be refreshing.

O: I'm pretty disappointed in this one. I'm a big fan of what Founders does and I was really looking forward to my first "All Day." I love IPAs and the thought of being able to consume an extra one or two at a sitting without falling down was very appealing. Unfortunately, this just isn't a beer I want to consume more than one of -- and even one is likely to be too many. This is the oddest tasting IPA I've ever tried. Maybe it will grow on me with time, and I have another 5 to test that hypothesis. But right now, I'm not too optimistic.

Appearance: Golden with good lacing. An appetizing ale.

Smell: Pear and pineapple. I especially like the pear, but this is a bit sour.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Extremely bitter, and not in a good way. Skunked pine cones. It is smooth, but definitely flat.

Overall Drinkability: I can officially say I've found a Founders beer I don't like. They say every dog has its day. Whatever the opposite of that saying is...this is it for Founders.

Served in a wellington glass.

Appearance: Transparent gold, heavy bubbles on the body with a somewhat weak head. Maybe it's 1/8" (if that) off the body.

Smell: This brew smells ridiculously of fresh hops easily the best property of the beer. Strong floral and citrus.

Taste: Like the scent but little light in strength. I didn't know the able level till I started reviewing it. This is easily the lightest IPA I have had but the flavor is still bold.

Mouth: Medium with very light stickiness, has that grapefruit skin after taste whivh is just right.

Overall: At first it is very bland, but it is one of those that builds up sip after sip. It is definitely not on the level of some other IPAs I have had but I would definitely call this an easier intro for the style of beer. One more thing because of the wet hop feel, it feels like a thirst quencher. This might just be your warm weather IPA. Salud!

Bottled on 2/25/13

A: Clear, golden-yellow in color with a fizzy, white head. Builds and fades quickly. No lace or retention.

S: Piney, grassy, resiny hops.

T: Fresh, vibrant, sticky hops with a hint of sweet malt in the finish. Such a tasty, easy-drinking, perfect-with-food kinda beer.

M: Never too hoppy where it's cloying or dry. The carbonation is spot-on. Great stuff.

O: I'm giving this high marks overall because it's such an awesomely drinkable beer and perfect for satisfying hop cravings without the ABV punch of many other IPAs & IIPAs.

Poured a cloudy amber with a short lived head. Aroma is rich and sweet, with strong fruit and pine notes. The taste is a wonderful mix of hop bitterness (pine, citrus) and the tropical fruit, citrus, and pine. Little carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. A great big flavor IPA with a session-able ABV.

Poured into standard pint glass...bottle @ 53* F

A- Wet hay/Golden..lacing nonexistent, quarter inch head that dissipated quickly, slightly hazy.
s-juniper berry action, green apple skin, aloe, fresh cut grass
t-poundable. hops are crisp, not bitter.. more green apple skin business.. true to style and intent. which makes me happy.. nice aftertaste. pairing with a cuban sandwich..the homemade pickle and the hops make great friends. the sweetness of the pork joins the olfactory party.
m-very carbonated... not my favorite trait in the world but again it makes sense.

o- i could see many a summer day that i make at least of 3 of these vanish... for breakfast. great with spicy food... we have a pulled pork sandwich that this would DANCE with. Points for stylistic authenticity.

A: Crisp, clear IPA with little head. There is a small island of soapy white foam in the middle of mine and barely a ring around the edges. Looks lively with bubbles streaming to the top. Light amber body.

N: Having not expected much out of the nose on this one since it is only 40 or so IBUS, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Straight up west coast grape fruit hoppiness, tropical fruits, a bit of caramel.

T: Very good. Again, with economy model the elements are--such as the IBUS and ABV, I'm pleasantly surprised. Very refreshing, which was to be expected--but also very flavorful. A little toned-down but you get the same floral, grapefruit, perfume character on the taste that you get on the nose. Just slightly subdued.

M: Crisp, clean, refreshing. Perfect for a camping trip, which the bottle seems to depict :)

Sidenote: I just want to say that I'm glad that Founders has made a really good, complex, flavorful beer that I can take to a BBQ or other outdoor long-lasting event and not be a mess. The ABV race to the top gets annoying to craft beer drinkers who want to kick back and enjoy a few but are often limited to splitting a 12 oz. bottle and that's it (unless you want to get sloshed).

Bottled 2/25/13, just over a month old.

A: Pale, clear golden pour. Large fizzy white head adorns it. Fades away fairly quickly. Moderate fluffs of lacing. Decent retention.

S: Floral hops and grapefruit mainly. Very mild aroma.

T: Mild taste too. Very floral with some grapefruit and a little pine. No real sign of malt, just a tiny bit of bread in there. Finish is grassy with some resinous bitterness.

M: Pretty light but not watery.

O: Definitely a sessionable IPA. Flavors are pretty mellow (it's 4.7%, what do you expect) but it's still pretty nice. It's like a mini IPA or as the bottle says aptly: a fractional IPA. Simple, but nice. Goes down easy.

S: Medium bright citrus, fresh grapefruit peel, heavy kumquat, slight grassiness

L: Light orange, slightly hazy, white head that dissipates. Ok lacing.

T: Bright citrus up front with some hoppy resins. Very clean, light malt. Medium bitterness with just a touch of sweetness. Finishes fairly dry with residual hop resin. Some soft grassiness as it warms, in a good way.

M: Light bodied, medium carbonation. Fairly crisp overall.

Very light, hoppy IPA with just enough malt to keep it in balance. Really enjoyed this, although i prefer a pale ale over this "light" IPA style.

Poured from a bottle into a Gulden Draak tulip

A- pours a transparent light orange with a one finger white head. Fades pretty fast, leaves a nice white film on the beer

S- holy cat pee. Must be a decent bit of simcoe in this one.

T- starts off with some citrus, finish is sightly bitter. Not a lot of extreme flavors with this one, but I wasn't really expecting any

M- body is pretty light, especially for an IPA. Solid

O- easy drinking beer, but not something I'd drink by the gallon at the price point. You can get better IPAs for less money, and that unfortunately puts a hole in the whole sessionable aspect of this

A-Clear-golden color with an almost non-existant head. No lacing.

S-Very floral and pleasant. Esters mix well with a profound hoppy presence and a twinge of alcohol, even though it is a session ale. Hops take an overwhelming presence at the back of the nose. Smells fantastic.

T-Kind of disappointing for a Founders brew. Weak body and very simple. Hops take the front of the palate, the middle, and the finish as well albeit with a little citrusy bitterness to it.

MF-Carbonated and crisp. Thin body with a dry finish.

O-Disappointed, but still not a bad beer necessarily. Very simple and a thin body, but it is sessionable. The fact that they had that in mind whilst brewing it makes it a little better. For the price, I'd buy SNPA any day over this.

Served on-draught into a pilsner glass at Hopleaf in Chicago. Reviewed from notes taken in March. Expections were high given the brewery and this beer's reputation.

A: Pours a one finger beige colour head of bad (~1 minute) retention, decent cream, and fair thickness. Body colour is a clear rich pale copper. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Appealing for the style. I'm excited to try it.

Sm: Pale malts, muted fruit. Incredibly light; I hardly get anything. No yeast or alcohol comes through.

T: Floral hops, light nectary character. Pale malts. Bright fruit. Refreshing. Little bitterness here. It's pretty balanced. I like it. Fair complexity. Decent depth of flavour.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Slightly overcarbonated. Good thickness. Suits the flavour well.

Dr: Quite drinkable, but nowhere near as much as many have claimed. I'd buy it by the 6er, but it's not exceptional. Just a sessionable, enjoyable IPA.

High B-

09/25/13: I picked up a 6-pack earlier tonight and thought I'd include some more in-depth notes:

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with cool label art and branded pressure cap served into an Independence Brewing pilsner glass in me gaff in Austin, Texas. Reviewed live.

Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor.

A: No bubble show forms as I pour.

Pours a one finger wide head of white colour. Nice creaminess and thickness. No lacing as the head recedes. Head retention is good - about 4-5 minutes - though the low ABV makes this less of a feat.

Body colour is a clear yellow-copper of above average vibrance. No yeast particles are visible. Transparent/translucent.

No obvious flaws. Not unique or special.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

A - Pours a SLIGHTLY cloudy yellow-amber, with about a finger of fizzy white head that dissipates fast. A little lacing.

S - Hops. Grass. Dirt.

T - Hops. Grass. Dirt. Citrus, which saves the whole thing. But I'm not good at describing IPAs.

M - Light, carbonation is toward the high end but it's not overdone. But that's where I think this type of beer should be. Clean, grassy finish.

O - I'm not a hops or IPA guy, really, but I like to believe I can still recognize a good one. This one's decent and sessionable.

Nice fresh fruit hop aroma. Sweet and light. Some doughy malt in background. Overall nice aroma.
Not much head - although poured while cold. Mostly clear and slightly cloudy darkish gold.
Forward hop flavors with moderately intense bitterness from mid through the finish. Some supportive malt with a bit of sweetness and caramel.
As would be expected with such a low abv there is a watery quality to the feel - quite thin. Ample carbonation.
A nice quality drinker for warm weather - which seems far away, although does seem a little possible in some distance future . Balanced well in flavors

Finishing up the 6-pack, bottle date looks like 2/15/13.

Pours into a pint a hazy pale orange with a white head

Nice hop forward scent with decent strength. Earthy, grassy and tropical hops

Taste also brings a nicer plethora of hops, more well-rounded than the smell overall. Weed, earth, citrus, grapefruit and tropical notes all make their mark on the palate. Malt is definitely the lesser extreme with just a bit of bread/biscuit coming in a the end.

Pretty good mouthfeel, a little high on the carbonation. Light but not too light.

For whatever reason, I enjoyed this last bottle much more than the rest of the 6. Definitely lots of good hop flavor for a low ABV beer, I think I would prefer Lagunitas DayTime for a session IPA though.

Consumed 4/2/13

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for giving me a fresh bottle of this

Appearance: Pours a dark gold color, with some orange notes - very clear, starts with a nicely sized white head, fades to a few wisps of a cap, leaves a spotty lacing

Smell: Light and very interesting - floral and oily citrus - mellow oranges and some grapefruit - some hints of pine - light, pale malts in the background - lightly bready - some light earthiness as well

Taste: Mellow in a very charming way - light orange and grapefruit - lightly oily, lightly pithy - light earthiness in the finish, with a touch of grass - nicely balanced with the malts, which are nicely bready - mostly pale, with some caramel malts - certainly drinkable

Mouthfeel: Light body, excellently carbonated, slightly oily, smooth

Overall: A great example of a style that should be upcoming

This is light, flavorful, and stupidly quaffable. My only question is how it compares to Lagunitas DayTime. The fact that this is year-round rather than rotating is certainly a plus. Overall, I think I prefer the hop profile of DayTime but the malt profile here. I will certainly be buying this in the future.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Dating noted under neck label, though it is smudged.

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear, golden body with an inch (or more) head of agreeable, white foam.

Smell: Fragrantly hoppy nose, as one would expect, with notes of plump citrus fruits, florals, and a grassy, earthy tone where somebody cut the grass and ran down some wild onions in the yard. Very modest, restrained, lightly bready malts underneath.

Taste: Mildly malt, just a bit of breadiness and sweetish hint of cookie until the accumulating hop bitterness shoves it off the stage. Invitingly hoppy, with a floral, earthy, citrusly fruity character and more than ample bitterness. Maybe a hint of wild ramp. Juicy, bitterish, light-on-the-tongue finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Brightly hoppy with a bitterness that was dominating but not overbearing or disagreeable.
