12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass at a little warmer than fridge temperature.

L - Deep gold color with a 2 finger white, thick, bubbly head. Lots of carbonation bubbles, nice retention, a little bit of lacing happening.

S - Definitely some nice floral, citrus, grapefruit hops apparent. Can smell a bit of bready maltiness, but mostly hops. No alcohol apparent at all. Smells very nice.

T - A lot more balanced flavor than I was expecting following the nose. Definitely caramel-sweet, maybe honey, malt present with some spicy, flowery, citrusy hops following. Less hoppy and certainly less grapefruit taste than the nose suggested. Much of the bitterness at the finish is from the hops but there also seems to be something else (maybe toasty maltiness) contributing to the bitter finish as well. The only reason I say this is because it tastes more bitter than the hop profile suggests.

F - Light-to-medium bodied, pretty carbonated, a moderately dry finish. This also tends to be balanced as the bitterness stays around for a little while (not as much as some other IPAs) but there's also a tangy sweetness that lingers on the tongue.

O - The bottle says it all - "Session Ale." This is a nicely balanced, lower ABV IPA that seems perfect for an occasion when you want to knock back more than a few. Nice offering by Founders.

Fantastic Summer IPA! Founders has done a great job of putting together a great tasting, aromatic, low ABV IPA, perfect for a Summer afternoon! I love this beer and will seek it out in the future when looking for a refreshing beer to have on a hot day!

Pours a golden yellow orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus floral hops and some grass notes. Taste is mostly citrus hops with a very tangy grapefruit note, some biscuit malt makes it way thru along with some fresh cut grass. Palate is a medium body, light crisp mouth feel with mild carbonation. This brew is seems to be a bit on the citus hops and tangy grapefruit side with some grass notes and a bit of biscuit malt. Overall its a still a good drinking session brew.

Enjoyed All Day IPA on tap at the Map Room. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a bright yellow with about an inch of nice white head. The aroma was strong citrus hops, mostly grapefruit. It had a strong heavy enjoyable aroma for a beer of its size. The taste was very citrus hoppy as well. There is a little bit of resiney hops, but not much at all, leaving for a very drinkable and approachable delicious IPA. The mouthfeel was medium light with good carbonation. This is generally what I am looking for out of an IPA. Overall a very good beer. It is well brewed and outstanding, especially for such a low ABV brew. Good work founders on another hit.

Straight pour from a 12oz pry-off bottle to a 25cl Duvel Single tulip; the bottling date is conspicuously absent—must’ve rubbed off pretty well, because Founders dates are always so clear and easy to find. Regardless, I bought this from a sixer that was dated to just the last three weeks or so, if I recall correctly, so it’s fresh.

Appearance (3.5): Decent pour on this, giving a full finger and a half or so of just-off-white foam that crackles a bit into a slowly-dying cap on the surface of the beer. The body itself is an orangey-gold color and almost perfectly clear (just a slight chill haze which will probably clear up). Slightly above-average retention. Lacing is minimal, but it does deposit suds here and there and a couple of fat legs of foam on the far side of the glass.

Smell (4.25): Really excellent nose here—lots of dank, weedy character with pineapple and grapefruit citrus tones underneath, showing a nice mix of fruit and resin. No malt to speak of in the nose, just super awesome pineapple, mango, and the evil weed.

Taste (3.5): This is almost all hops, heavy on the bittering: a vegetal-herbal bitterness (is that you, Centennial?) with shades of astringent citrus peel leads the charge, easily bowling over a low-powered malt body marked by lightly toasted barley with almost no sweetness behind it. Dry as can be. Just a little bit of alcohol burn—ha! Just kidding. There is some discernible hops flavor that separates itself from the bittering action, and it’s lemony—almost like a shot of lemon juice was thrown into this bottle. This has virtually no malt body and just a wad of bittering hops thrown in there, with that lemony character becoming more clear in the mid-palate.

Mouthfeel (4.0): Super, super dry. The body is definitely on the light end of the spectrum, and the carbonation feels subdued but it foams nicely and tingles sharply here and there before it goes down. The finish is ridiculously dry, owing to the utter lack of malt heft and the utter dominance of moderately astringent hops oils. But, for what they’re going for (a session IPA), I’d say they’ve hit that nail more or less on the head.

Overall (3.75): This is a good beer, and both legitimately IPA-ish and sessionable. Still, this is not what I would reach for if I wanted something ≤5% ABV—I’m not convinced that IPAs that light can scratch the same itch as an IPA. I don’t mind the light malt body, but a little more heft would help smooth over the astringency of vegetal-herbal hops bitterness. If you’re craving hops and want something sessionable, then this may be a good choice. Otherwise, I’d still prefer a very light saison or a well-made pilsner.

Appearance: Very clean looking IPA. Low amount of lacing but still present. Below average carbonation throughout. Overall looks like a very tasty session.

Smell: A light caramel and some floral hops. Comes off very bright on the front end. Sweetness dies off to a solid malty backbone.

Taste: A grainy hoppy presence on the front end. Some dry fruity hops run through the body. More of an overall body presence then I expected.

Mouthfeel: Too crispy for my taste. I understand it is a session but feels a little artifical.

Overall: Solid session but not something I would continue to come back for.
