A: Mostly clear, just slightly hazy. Dark golden. Pretty much perfect color for an IPA, would have preferred a shade lighter and a little hazier. Carbonation very low, almost absent.
S: Nice combination of citrus, pine, grapefruit, orange. If I had to guess I'd think Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial. Very nice. Super clean, very fresh.
T: An IPA all the way, but very clean and noticably absent malt character. More of the same flavor: grapefruit, pine, light citrus. Super clean. Bitter definitely. This is not a a pale ale - it is most definitely an IPA. Maybe just a bit grapey. Really no malt character to speak of, but I can't complain. THe very smooth yeast character makes this sessionable, as advertised. I think they hit on exactly what they were going for here. The bitterness may make it just a little less sessionable, but again, minor complaint. Very nice job.
M: A medium-light to medium mouthfeel. There is some body here. This makes the beer certainly an IPA. If it were lighter it would be more sessionable, but then it wouldn't be an IPA. I like it.
O: This is the standard by which "session IPAs" should be judged. I've had others and they really aren't close. This beer makes me think a bit. Which I like. Another hit from Founders.

Did an A/B comparison between this and my current favorite session IPA

A: Slight deep amber color. Head retention was OK with minimal lacing

S: No real blast of hops. I had to search really hard to smell (imagine?) some pine and citrus

T: See directly above. IMHO this is more of an amber than an IPA

M: Fine

O: I think Founders is a great brewery but this one really disappointed me. The SingleCut 18Watt I compared this to (or say a Hill Farmstead Edward) both are state of the art in terms of a sessionable IPA and the comparison was night and day. Maybe the bottle was too old? I dunno, but another reason to buy local I reckon...

Pours a golden chrome with fine head and lacing.

Smell is lovely apple, pine, bit of peach. Malt isn't really there- it's all about the fruity hops.

Taste is a nice combination of the aforementioned fruits with a pine-y bite.

Mouthfeel is thin, good carb and dry and crisp, almost like mineral water with a little bit of sourness.

Excellent, underrated beer. Don't get what the Australians complaining about this beer were on about. Like a better version of Stone & Wood Pacific Ale.

Hops may have faded a bit due to the age but are still a lot more present than in beers which travel a similar route to this country e.g. Sierra Nevada.
