Clear, ambery orange. Not a great head. The smell is orange, too: loads of citrus with some tropical aromas – lychee, papaya – as well as a touch of freshly-cut grass. Taste and mouthfeel border on anemic. There are some nice mango-ish hop flavors here, and the beer overall is very balanced, but it lacks body and depth. I get that this is meant to be a lower alcohol version of the style, but I've had beers 10-20 percent weaker than this that were way more delicious and interesting. If I'm honest I've had low-alcohol beers that were tastier. As a sort of basic pale ale, it's not bad. As an American IPA, it's a failure.

A: This poured a clear gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like fresh grapefruit and pineapple, with some sweet honey and mango.
T: It tasted like mild grapefruit and apricot, with some honey malt and pineapple. It had a very clean and mild bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Light body.
D: This was a great session IPA with delicious but gentle scent and taste. The body was a bit thin, but the finish was smooth as can be. Just about the perfect beer to drink all day.

The appearance doesn't fit the type very well. It's extremely clear and thin looking. Straw amber in color, it looks filtered and clarified and everything else to make it look like it does. The head is a finger thick of very white bubbles, but doesn't even look much like the sticky, foamy IPAs I've had before. Very below average retention, and it's so thin there's no lacing.

Fortunately it smells like it should. Pine, grapefruit and apricot fill the nose, possibly some pineapple as well. Lots of citrus.

A good amount of malt, plenty of earthy pine, and then hops, with their citric tastes in the swallow. The hops are a bit lacking in taste, mostly for aroma.

Quite thin with a watered down feel. There's a lot of bitterness, moreso than the label's 42 IBUs would suggest, but it's never too much. A bit of an oily feel from the hops. Light bodied. No alcohol presence.

Not one of Founder's best and not really all that impressive for an IPA. Could use more body and more punch.

This beer pours a clear copper color. The head is half an inch in height, and recedes slowly into a small cap of lacing. The aroma is of pine, melon, tangerine, and flowers. Where the aroma is vibrant and juicy, the taste is subdued and short-lived. There is a flash of fruith hops, but it vanishes as quickly as it is noticed. It is pleasant when it is there, however, which only adds to the disappointment of its early disappearance. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied with a thinnish texture, and a bone dry texture. All of which I appreciate in a session beer. Overall, this is a nice beer. I would like the flavor to stick around a few seconds more, but it is still good nonetheless.

A - Pours a medium copper gold with a thin soapy head and light carbonation.

S - Tons of resiny citrus and pine.

T - Definitely a hop forward beer...resiny citrus, grapefruit, and oranges up front which stays for the duration. Light biscuity malt surfaces midway through before the resinous bitter citrus and pine turn things up and crash in around it ending with a lingering bitter finish.

M - Light medium body and leaves a moderate amount of citrus resin in the mouth before finishing crisp and very dry.

O - An overall surprisingly hoppy and tasty beer for the lower than normal ABV for this style....hats off to Founders for creating a hop forward beer to satisfy the hop heads without all the alcohol and stupidness that follows. (!!). Definitely could drink this one all day while sitting on the deck.
