Founders Brewing Company - Founders All Day IPA - 12fl oz bottle

Look - Pours very pale golden yellow clear with a fizzy head that dissipates almost as quickly as it comes. Minimal lacing. Moderating to heavy carbonation.

Smell - Malty and sweet with pungent floral and citrus hops over it. The aroma is the strong suit of this brew.

Taste - Floral hops blast, very thin and watery besides. Expected a bit more heartiness, flavor, and "oomph" here.

Mouthfeel - Hops rest rather bitter. OK drinkability but did not leave me wanting another, thin but somehow also a little rough on the palette.

Overall - Not the worst, but lacking in many different ways. This brew is definitely defined by the term "one-dimensional". I suppose if I had to give it something good it would be a great alternative to light beer on a hot Summer day.

Edit: 2014 batch has a nice oniony Summit or some other variety hop that I'm digging a hell of a lot more, had to boost this rating to "outstanding"

Please note, this was my first "Session beer" and therefore my review on this may be skewed. I am not particularly fond of the style but I will agree that it IS "sessionable" in the sense of what they designed it to be.

Had 4-5 of these since it's release. I figured something like this was coming from one of the major breweries. Low ABV and a lot of hops is nice.

A- Poured from the bottle with a clear, golden-orange body more towards the latter. A foamy white head forms to a few fingers in size with nice retention. Spotty patches of lace form around the glass.

S- Tropical fruit juice (reminds me of mango) forward with some zesty citrus, pine and floral as well from the hops. A slight bit of yeast bread and light malts in the background.

T- The late hop addition flavors don't follow as much as I expected them to here but still mostly hop forward. More of a citrusy grapefruit, pine and floral feel overall with a bit of tropical fruit too. Yeast bread and light sweet malts are more noticeable balancing things here.

MF- Fairly high carbonation in a light-end body, pretty dry overall. Silky smooth feel with a bit of creaminess to it but not foamy at all. Moderately high bitterness in the finish.

Pretty much what I expected. With the low ABV it still packs a large hop punch with some nice fruity and floral flavors.

first of all THIS IS NOT AN IPA, ITS A PALE ALE.

with that being said, ill grade it as an ipa

appearance is too light in color and little head retention
smell is actually pretty good bright citrus type hops
taste is watery watery watery, taste like a watered down ipa, it could be outstanding if not watered down
mouthfeel is dry and watery
overall it would have been better if classified as a pale ale!

a beautifully clean copper/gold color with a finger of white head, lots of visible carbonation. smells very hoppy, grapefruit, pine, caramel. the flavor is mostly hoppy, definitely tasting the 2row, grapefruit, pine. medium body on the lighter side, moderate carbonation. a very refreshing and tasty ipa. the lower alcohol percentage makes it a perfect summer beer.
