Pours a nice light gold-to-copper color with a white head and a good amount of lacing. Smell is quite strong and hoppy with some excellent floral, citrus, and tropical notes. Taste draws back a bit, but is still quite nice. Light malt character, but really not too much. Mouthfeel is light and dry. I see drinking this one all summer.A Nice session summer brew.

Thanks to 4DAloveofSTOUT for just giving this to me haha.

A- Clear golden in color with a short white head on top. short lived head with spotty retention.

S- Real dank, clean, citrus smelling.

T- Mimics the nose exactly. Just a bright, clean, floral/citrus hoppy beer.

M- Thin to medium-thin mouthfeel. Lower carbonation, which is surprising.

D/O- Gotta bump up the drinkability a ton on this one. It packs the hop goodness without the alcohol to go with the average IPA/craft beer. Now if we could just work on the price a little...maybe a 12pack for $12ish?

Poured a cloudy amber with a short lived head. Aroma is rich and sweet, with strong fruit and pine notes. The taste is a wonderful mix of hop bitterness (pine, citrus) and the tropical fruit, citrus, and pine. Little carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. A great big flavor IPA with a session-able ABV.

Pours orangish with a quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is of hops, caramel and malt. Taste is slightly hoppy. Little bit of pine. Has a caramel malt backbone, Lingering hop sweetness. Mouthfeel is light. Body is light and very carbonated. It goes down easy, and it tastes good. Could definitely drink a few of these.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass, bottled 2/18/13. Pours a bright orange yellow, with a one inch fluffy white head, that leaves webs of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell is pineapple, tangerine, cut grass, apricot, and grapefruit. Taste is all that, very balanced, with a hit of grapefruit in the finish that lingers a bit. Body is light, plenty of carbonation, a little dry, and you can drink plenty. This is what it says it is and is really a complex delicious lower abv beer.

12 oz. bottle. Bottled 12/26/11.

Clear, clean, light copper orange body. Small, but persistent, light beige-white head. Some lacing. Lots of fresh hops on the nose. Big notes of mango, pineapple, cannabis, resin, and some citrus. Maybe a little sugary malt in there as well.

Toasted malts and some lemon mineral water bitterness up front. Herbal, grassy hop flavors become weedier through the palate. Some pine in there too. Bitterness stays strong, and even gets a little aspirin-y in the end. Light malt presence with some caramel and fruit flavors. The hops definitely win this battle though. Very dry finish. Moderate body, with a little bit of a gassy, bubbly feel. Definitely tastes like a "session" IPA, with all the hops but less malt/alcohol. Ultimately, although I quite like this beer, I think it would really shine on cask; the carbonation is a little too prickly and gives the beer too much of a mineral water feel.

12 ounce bottle, I can find no freshness/bottling date info.

Pours: lighter amber, lightly hazed, off white head lloose and staying. Leaves minor low sheeting and lace

Sniff: Bright and fresh hop nose

Tastes: Loads of again fresh tasting citric hops. Grapefruit and more grapefruit. Tasty IPA

mouthfeel: Crisp on the tongue, carbonation on point for the style and my tastes

Overall: fresh and brightly flavorful. Well worth a try. As advertized a sessionable, lower alcohol IPA - Nicely done

A - orangish copper with a short, soft, dense, pure white head that has great retention

S - herbal, spicy, peppery

T - light malt up front followed by an herbal, spicy, slightly rye-like, peppery hop character

M - light to medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This achieves exactly what it set out to do: a low-ABV, very hoppy, sessionable ale. I would have preferred a more citrusy hop character for a session beer to avoid palate fatigue, but I'm not complaining. It's a little pricey for a session beer, but I wouldn't turn this down if offered.

Pours an effervescent honey color with a pinky of pearl colored head. Minimal head retention & lacing

S: Grassy, piney & floral hops aplenty

T: Follows the nose, crackery notes up front. Some minty & catty notes as this warms, some piney & woodyness as well. Finishes crisp, somewhat dry, & with a slight grainy/bready sweetness

MF: Light bodied, crisp carbonation, pretty good balance

Great drinkability, not really in my wheelhouse, but a solid AIPA that won't get old too quick in a session

Had on tap.

A- Pours a golden yellow color with a light amber hue to it. One finger white head shows medium retention. Some light web lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Tropical style hops in the front of the aroma. I mean this thing bursting with pineapple. There is a light caramel bready malt base but it only comes through in hints. Pine like bittering hops are in the ending of the nose.

T- Sweet citrus hops in the front of the beer screams from the get go. Pineapple is the biggest flavor I get in the front of the beer itself. Light bready pale malts in the middle of the beer show that there is a underbody to all this hop blasting going on. Light bitter hops on the backend to off-set the hoppy sweetness that is on the front end of this beer.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Sweet citrus hops and faded bittering hops are left on the palate. Aftertaste is light alcohol with a hint of pale malts and a crisp hop bitterness. This beer is balanced very well to the style they were going with. No off flavors were present. Light drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- Although this was a hop forward beer it seemed a little muted at times in the nose. The flavor was big but not over the top I thought. A nice balance between sweet and bitter with the ABV really lending to the drinkability. Overall a nice sessionable beer from Founders.

Summery: A great session ale... I am slightly bias to Founders beers. Still it's the value in the 15 'Brewers pack' for $17.99 that really makes me get giddy over it. Adding on to the fact that it moves rather fast at a few local shops, means I can almost always swoop this less than a month old. Such a great value and readily available go-to~

Really enjoyed this beer and I think they hit the nail on the head with what they were going for. Its a light IPA that you can have six of on a summer day and not feel guilty about later.

Poured into a glass with a nice tangerine color slightly hazy with a pretty decent head.

Smell wasn't super strong but had a nice citrus hop smell to it and with a hint of pine.

Really nice hop taste without being to heavy and left me looking forward to the next sip. Definitely picked up on the floral hops and pine.

Was crisp and smooth on the way down.

This one seems like it has a chance to be my go to grilling six pack for this summer

12oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Bottled on 2/19/13.

A- A bright and clear dark golden color, plenty of visible carbonation. The 1-plus finger head tapers to a thin film and leaves wide rings of lacing. This is what I want a session ale to look like, thus the 4.5.

S- Piney hops are what I picked up right away, followed by some grainy and grassy notes and some faint caramel malts.

T-On par with the aromas. The piney hops carry this brew.

M- Light and crisp, well carbonated mouthfeel. There's some oily resin from the hops, which, by the way, Founders squeezes every drop of hop bitterness out of those 42 ibus. Dry hoppy finish.

O- Hoppy flavor @ 4.7% abv works 'All Day' for me.

Bottled 3/2/12

A: Medium honey/gold. Really good clarity, small white head. Not much lacing.

S: Nice zesty citrus and lemon nose. Some sweetness as well. Kind of reminds me of double trouble in a way. Smells way stronger than I thought it would, really surprised by that.

T: Lemon and light pine hops. A bit of grapefruit and just a hint of sweetness. Not much of an aftertaste and it dies off pretty quick as to be expected with a sessionable IPA. Still lots of flavor packed in here.

M: Light body, average carbonation.

O: Of course this is very easy drinking, they definitely accomplished that. A good amount of hops and flavor and the nose is fantastic. For what it is, I think Founders did a great job as usual.

Nice fresh fruit hop aroma. Sweet and light. Some doughy malt in background. Overall nice aroma.
Not much head - although poured while cold. Mostly clear and slightly cloudy darkish gold.
Forward hop flavors with moderately intense bitterness from mid through the finish. Some supportive malt with a bit of sweetness and caramel.
As would be expected with such a low abv there is a watery quality to the feel - quite thin. Ample carbonation.
A nice quality drinker for warm weather - which seems far away, although does seem a little possible in some distance future . Balanced well in flavors

This is very much like the recent 21st Amendment Bitter American. Comparing the two, the Bitter American wins hands down, but this is a very nice beer worth your consideration.

It is great looking in the glass. It smells nice too. Tasteis a little metalic as is the aftertaste. I am not going to rush out and buy this for my guests (but I will get some Bitter American).

12 oz bottle, 2/11/13. poured into a DFH IPA glass

A- A clear golden color with a two finger white head.

S- Floral, a good amount of citrus, pine, some resin, biscuity malts.

T- Citrus hops, floral, piney bitter finish, nice light malt backbone.

M- Smooth, crisp, light.

O- A lighter, easy drinking IPA, very enjoyable. Packs a nice bitter punch in a sessional beer.

12oz bottle into tulip.

A - Clear light amber with a small white head. Very lively carbonation.

S - A blast of pine resin hits the nose first. Very earthy and hoppy with hints of mango and caramel malt.

T - Earthy pine hops are the showcase here (as expected). Light citrus and tropical fruit notes are evident as well. Toasted caramel malts lend just the right amount of sweetness. Finishes mildly bitter.

M - Light body, crisp, bubbly mouthfeel. A bit sticky, somewhat of a dry finish.

O - This is a delicious, hoppy session IPA. High drinkability and very refreshing. The mouthfeel is a little too light, but otherwise this is everything a light IPA should be.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Gold with a short head that dissipates quickly. Excellent clarity and low-moderate carbonation.

Pineapple, tangerine, papaya, navel orange and honeydew.

Papaya with hints of pineapple and tangerine. Light caramel backbone with notes of candy sugar and honeydew melon. Finishes with subtle notes of pine and orange zest.

Medium bodied, crisp, clean, sharp and dry.

Has some really nice tropical flavors upfront and then quickly dives into the dry/bitter territory you'd expect from an IPA. Quite nice.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. $9.99/6 pack

A- Pours a crystal clear golden orange body with a medium white head that reduces quickly and leaves little lacing.

S- Pretty fruity, smells like citra hops - citrus, mango, pineapple, some pine.

T- The notes here are subtle but tasty - the hop character reveals some tropical, grassy, and citrus zest notes. Not very bitter, nicely balanced.

M- Thinnish body with medium carbonation. Definitely refreshing and sessionable.

I like everything about this beer but the price. It's definitely a great brew to drink on a summer afternoon, but at 4.7% alcohol, a 6 pack isn't going to last you nearly as long as a higher abv, more flavorful 6-pack that you can purchase for 9.99.

The beer pours a nice golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is great! It has a solid pale malt scent along with a killer citrus hop nose. It's light and refreshing with plenty of hop character. The taste is good. It has a great hop character that's balanced with an adequate amount of malts. It seems a bit watery, but the hops really add a good amount of complexity. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a highly drinkable beer and it's incredibly sessionable as well.

Pours a nice, soapy head that is resiny, and collapses completely, leaving minimal lacing. Big, bright hop aroma is filled with citrus and a touch of pine. Nice straw color. Starts with a wonderful, full, aromatic hop flavor that is piney with maybe a HINT of citrus (kind of the opposite of the aroma), builds into a nice medium bitterness, and then MALT! The malt powers through these hops, and then begins to blend to leave a delicious hop-bread flavor linger into the finish.

It reminds me of my much beloved and unavailable (in IL) Nimbus Pale Ale from Tucson; it's hoppy, but not too bitter, drinkable, and just delicious!
I would buy this by the 12-pack!!!

A - Pours a bright blear golden with a small less than one finiger white head. Very good looking beer

S - BIg hops right up front. Smells of Grapefruit, pine, floral, and other citrus. Did not detect any malts.

T - Taste is just like the smell up front. Slightly bitter with tastes of grapefuit and pine. There was a definate nutty maltiness on the finish

M - Very light feeling. Lower carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking

O - Quite impressive IPA. Definately not one of the big imperial knock you on your butt IPAs. I think they hit spot on with what they were trying to achieve, an IPA that could be enjoyed all day long. Great beer!

2013 bottle

Appearance: Golden beauty with a nice 1 finger head and ample carbonation.

Smell: Quite aromatic, with notes of pine, malt, mango and orange.

Taste: Nice blend of subtle malty sweetness and bitterness up front. Eventually, the malts fade and the bitterness becomes more noticeable, lasting into the finish.

Mouthfeel: On the lighter side with mild carbonation.

Overall: Pretty much tasted as I expected it to. It's a sessionable IPA that's not very complex, but give me this over a BMC any day of the week.

Aroma: Super bold aroma for a session ale, only 4.7% ABV. Bold grapefuit citrus from American hops, a good dose of fresh pine needles. Moderate pale malt sweetness.

Appearance: Medium gold color, like apple juice. Just a touch of haze. Head pours small and is clean white. Low retention and low to medium lacing.

Taste: Impressed immediately. Bold sweet citrus, almost all grapefruit. Moderate pale malt sweetness. Mild grains.

Mouthfeel: Medium-low body. Creamy. Finishes very dry. The mild carbonation is felt after the swallow.

Overall: I could drink a few of these... Nice low ABV for a change, but the flavor was not sacrificed. The malt flavor could have been a bit bolder, but it works well, I can't imagine a better tasting Session IPA given the ABV restriction.
