Bottled just about a month ago, so fairly fresh. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Scent is quite hoppy, yet mellow at the same time. Not a very big malt profile, which is what I was hoping for. Some lovely lemon aromas and sweet orange scents. Taste is just as it smells...but a little less hoppy. It is a very tasty beer, but the hops kinda die off in the flavor. I'm sure when it's very fresh that it is a way better beer. Has some similar characteristics as Sierra Nevada Pale. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Drinkability is very high. Overall, this is a very tasty pale ale that is very sessionable. I could see myself easily putting away a six pack of this by myself on a warm summer day.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a clear, copper colored body. The head settles at a moderate pace and leaves light traces of lace.

S - A fruity pine aroma with seem caramel and notes of grapefruit.

T - Oine hops and caramel malt up front, some grapefruit comes out in the middle and the beer finishes with bready malt, moderate bitterness, and pine hop flavors.

M - Mediumbody, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - The hop character is excellent, but the malt is a bit too dry and toasty for my taste. While a touch of sweetness would go a long way here, it is a pretty nice session IPA overall.

Beer was served from a bottle dated 9/13/12.

A-The beer poured a slightly hazy dark golden color and was capped with a lacy white head.

S-Fantastic...This beer smells like an IPA with tropical fruit, orange & grapefruit zest aromas dominating the nose. In the background is a slight pine/herbal/grass aroma.

T-Little malt flavor with a background of graininess. Initially, there is a slight bubblegum and tropical fruit flavor that immediately begins to fade. The bitterness is somewhat domineering in that it overcomes any malt sweetness. The hop flavor lasts after you swallow coating the tongue. The bitter hop flavor is slightly harsh.

M-The carbonation is light to medium and the beer has a lighter body.

O-The aroma of this beer of awesome but the accompanying beer is average. It was a lighter body session ale but it wound up being somewhat average in the end overall for me.

Appearance is light amber, with a head that's initially quite thick, but fades quickly. The scent is all hops - grapefruit and orange - and absolutely intoxicating. I can't stop sniffing. The taste is certainly hoppy, but not as much as the scent might imply. Grapefruit tang is notable from start to finish. Mouthfeel is very thin. For a session ale, this is to be expected. It's a very light and drinkable. A great session IPA.

Bottled awhile back on 2/9/14, or something like that -- it was early February. Here I am, over three months later, buying a six-pack for nearly twelve bucks at a nearby Buscemi's -- never again will I buy over-priced, "old" beers at that place. At least it was stored in a fridge. Since I drank this at a baseball game, I'll skip the appearance.

The smell of this one is nice, and about what you'd think to get from the style. It has a light grapefruit kind of aroma that I remember with a mild malt profile. Not heavy at all. Pleasing. The taste is more of the same. All Day is light in flavor and feel, but very drinkable. Solid hop bitterness that works well with the beer on the finish. Feel is, like I said, pretty light, with about a moderate sort of carbonation. Easy to drink a lot of.

Bumped up my taste and overall ratings for this one by a quarter of a point. I'm still not crazy about this beer (or most in this specific "sessionable IPA" category), but I liked it. For the price though, I can't say I'd want to revisit this. I understand there was a mark-up at the shop I stopped at, but even so, for the same price I'd rather pick up a higher ABV beer with more flavor... Two Hearted, or Founders' own, Centennial.

Appearance: Pours with a nice three finger head, but it goes down pretty quickly. What's left behind is a thin, white layer of foam. Patchy lacing. Beer's a very slightly hazy sunset yellow/orange color. (3.5/5)

Smell: Holy hops. This beer isn't shy about it either. Heavy hop aromas, with a largely predominant grapefruity smell. (4/5)

Taste/feel: Straight away, I found with Ale la Reverend by Short's that I'm not a huge fan of these "Light IPAs" as I refer to them. This has an extremely piney, resinous, and hoppy flavor with very little to no malts to be traced -- surprisingly decent. For the style, this is the best session IPA I've had. However, I'd rather have a full-on IPA. (3.25/5, 4/5)

Too long/didn't read: This would make for a pretty average IPA, but it makes for an above average session IPA.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip.

This is the only founders beer I dont get in my area for some reason.

A- Pours slightly hazy golden with a one finger slightly off white head. Dissipated rather quick.

S- Citrus hops, lemon and orange, a slight pine. Very fruity and hoppy. A slight sweetness.

T- A little sweet up front. Followed up by bitterness and a nice hop profile. The first thing I get is a sweet orange and maybe some lemon. The hops have a light tropic fruit flavor with pineapple and mango. Not really a strong taste but very pleasant. Malt body is slightly sweet and lacing of taste.

M- This is a small beer but doesn't feel watery. It drinks easy and is quite refreshing. This would go well with anything. Pleasant fruity aftertaste.

O- This is a great beer, I think I actually like this one as much as their rye and centennial IPA's. This is a great "small" beer.

A- Pale amber body with a thin white head. A slight hint of cloudiness, but overall looks very light bodied.

S- Very piney hop aroma along with some floral notes and a hint of grapefruit. Overall smells very good and approachable.

T- Packs a lot of hop flavor during the taste, but finishes rather light of flavor. Expected for the low abv, but there is almost no noticeable malt presence to balance the taste.

M- High carbonation, medium-light bodied. Definitely an easy-drinking session beer.

O-It is hard to judge this one based on the style, since the idea is a more sessionable IPA. On flavor alone, there are many more IPAs that pack more punch. As a sessionable IPA however, this one is very good.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. The color is a hazy amber/copper mixture, along the lines of what you'd expect for an American IPA. Minimal head and minimal lacing left on the glass. Smells very earthy, even more so than many full-on IPAs. Heavy on the hops and very piney, full of oils and resins. Tons of citrus on the nose also, especially as it warms up, mainly grapefruit and pineapple. The taste follows right along with a heavy dose of pine, hops, and dank resins, balanced superbly by the citrus flavors of the grapefruit and pineapple. Slight warmth, which is funny considering the low ABV. Carbonation is nice and provides a good bite. The aftertaste is slightly woody and definitely bitter.

My only main complaint is that the beer tastes a bit "watery" at times, but nonetheless, is still packed with flavor for a 4.7% ABV beer. This is definitely something I could drink all day.

A - orangish copper with a short, soft, dense, pure white head that has great retention

S - herbal, spicy, peppery

T - light malt up front followed by an herbal, spicy, slightly rye-like, peppery hop character

M - light to medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This achieves exactly what it set out to do: a low-ABV, very hoppy, sessionable ale. I would have preferred a more citrusy hop character for a session beer to avoid palate fatigue, but I'm not complaining. It's a little pricey for a session beer, but I wouldn't turn this down if offered.
