A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear texture. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Fair lacing.

S: A nice aroma of hops, pine, malt, and some citrus.

T: Tasted of hops (of course), a good shot of pine, malt, a little caramel, and citrus (grapefruit). Almost like a West Coast IPA, but a little bit mellower and not quite as hoppy. A solid, easy to drink flavor.

M: A pretty good amount of carbonation with a somewhat slick finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Not exactly an earth-shattering take on the IPA, but nonetheless a tasty beer. Drinkable.

Decided to try this “sessionable” brew while watching a Game of Thrones episode.

Poured into a Sierra Nevada balloon glass – clear bronze in color with a quickly deteriorating head. Strong smell of citrus/pine.

Taste is of bitter hops and grapefruit. I like grapefruit notes as part of an IPA flavor profile, but in this case it dominates the beer too much. The mouthfeel is thin (which obviously was intended for session purposes) but the lingering, bitter aftertaste causes it to be a slow sipper for me.

This beer just doesn’t work for me, especially as a session ale. I’ve loved every Founders beer up until this point. Too bad.

12 oz.

Pours a light honey gold, white head dissipates to a lacing almost immediately.

Smells of honey and piney grapefruit hops over papery malts.

Mild bread malts, slight vegetable bitterness with piney dry hops serving as the majority of the flavor.

Medium body with a soft tingle of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A decent but boring session ale. Easy to drink. Wouldn't turn it down again, but it is fairly forgettable.
