12 oz founders style brown bottle with a lovely founders label. Poured into a nonic style pint glass.
A - dark. Black and basically opaque. A slight touch of dark brown at the edge in the light. Thick mocha head has a superb look. Lacing is thick and sticky as it hangs to the sides of my glass. This may be the best looking porter I've ever seen.
S - aroma is of dark chocolate with a caramel sweetness that creeps in to make it interesting. A light wood like aroma with a leafy hop appeal. A real deal toasty maybe even burnt but still sweet aroma.
T - cocoa sweetness erupts the tastebuds up front that provide a lingering sweetness. Leafy like hops provide a nice kick of bitterness that sets up the woody dark chocolate character. Dark chocolate is detected from the front to more in the finish.
M - medium bodied and thick. I mean this is amazingly creamy thick leaving you wanting more. Coffee in the somewhat dry finish. Everything about this is thick even 10 minutes after the last sip.
O - damn good! It's probably the thickest porter I've experienced and has the dark looks to kill. This is a world class American porter from a world class american brewer. It easily takes the #2 spot behind the GLBC Edmund Fitzgerald in my porter ranks. It's thickness is out of this universe and provides an excellent experience for those who like a hearty brew. I am glad I bought the 6 pack instead of the single. A must try for anyone and everyone who like well crafted porters.

Bottled 5/16/2014 at 40 degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma of roasted malt
Head average (4 cm), light brown, creamy, slowly diminishing to 2 mm ring
Lacing good – broken wide rings with small bubbles
Body dark brown, opaque
Flavor begins with roasted malt bitterness, slowly changing to a light chocolaty sweetness; no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium to full, creamy, lively carbonation
A very good porter, a little up the spectrum toward stouts.
