A: Had one of the first pours after the keg was put on, so it poured like a big stout--incredible definition in the line between dark liquid and head. That head was a two-finger thick grayish brown, thick and creamy with a few carbonation bubbles perched atop. Thick, crusty lacing.
S: Roasted coffee and sweet notes tickle the nose, along with scents of vanilla ice cream and fresh Cheerios. A little alcohol slips in at the end but is gone after a few sips.
T: Simply amazing. Ultimately sweeter than the Breakfast Stout--less "coffee with extra cream and sugar" bitterness and more a combination of dark chocolate, cinnamon, ripened cherries, and Coca-Puffs. (Note: the bready/cereal-like scent and texture to this beer is inspiring these comparisons; I didn't just eat breakfast). A meandering roasted malt aftertaste.
M: The accomplice to the big time taste: rich, smooth, and delightful. Just a little carbonation bite. Well textured. Clings to the back of the throat.
D: Thoroughly enjoyable. My only fear is that this beer doesn't expand the palette; it takes the palette hostage. Someone offers you a porter and only the Founders becomes acceptable. But then again, is that a bad thing?

Poured into a sampling glass. Vigorous poor gives a dark tan head which quickly disintegrates leaving plenty of lacing.
Smells of light roast but mostly a sweet alcoholic aroma as it warms.
Taste is roasted malt but subdued, and watery. Some alcohol but not in-your-face. a little bitterness in the finish and enhanced roasty character.
Mouthfeel is a little thin and watery, but nothing off-putting.
A good porter, I have not had so many recently but something I love coming back to.
Will try again if on tap, otherwise I will keep exploring!

A: Black in color with no light penetration. Gorgeous 1 1/2 finger head that is made of uniform bubbles. The head lasts a long time - and is dense enough to reshape as you move the glass.
S: There is a smoked or charred smell. Like a charred hardwood. It almost smells like hickory smoked meat.
T: Smoke up front then again at the back. Slight mocha taste as it warms.
M: Dry feeling but goes down easily
O: The appearance on this one is amazing! If you handed this to me and said it was a smoked porter I would believe it. There is a lot of smoke essence in there. This one is good - but I wanted to love it and I am not there.
