A: poured a bottle into a tulip glass; disappointed by the lack of head and generally uniform color

S: decent smell, a coffee or chocolate laced porter

T: tasted a bit thick, like unsweetened chocolate or bitter coffee, but I didn't think it was very subtle.

M: not much carbonation (maybe an older bottle?), but fine

D: I drink porter regularly, but this wouldn't be my first or 2nd choice. It's a quality beer, like all Founder's I've had, but not top notch compared to others, and it didn't make me want to grab another.

Yes, I am a bit biased toward a thick heady porter, but I digress from my point. This porter has it all...a bit sweet, a bit rich, a bit chocolatey, a bit coffee laden and a lot delicious. It pours smoothly from the tap and settles a little like a Guinness in your pint glass. On the inhale, the sweet and rich aroma gets your palate prepared for a nice sip of an almost a coffee ice cream milk shake-like goodness. This would go nicely with a hefty gourmet burger or even an acid cigar (perhaps the Kub Kuba for good measure?). Highly recommended.

This beer pours pitch black almost like thin motor oil in a good way with quarter inch of tan head with plenty of lacing.

Smells of roasted malts slightly smokey.

Taste is similar to the nose malty roast smokey and sweet with minor hop bitterness.

This beer feels thick with very little carbonation, but it is very smooth.

Overall I really like this porter, it was part of a sample case, and would get this beer again.

I am a Stout, and RIS lover, butI am liking Porters more and more!

Appearance- black pour little to no head.

Smell-medium roasted coffee no off putting odor. Inviting.

Taste- Medium overall coffee up front hints chocolate. Pleasant malted finish not too heavy, dry.

Mouthfeel- Ample bodied. Carbonation is low. Rich and creamy, i am loving American Porters More and More did I mention that?...yes!

Overall- I enjoyed this Porter very much I cant wait to try more of Founders Stouts and Imperial Stouts. I hope I stumble on to one of their limited suppy. Thanks Founders, you are on my short list.:)

A. Dark, almost opaque, thin mocha colored head

S. Delightful, sweet light roasted coffee, dark chocolate

T. Taste is slightly bitter coco, coffee, very nice balance between the two, into roasted earthy tones

M. It is smooth & creamy, medium mouth coat, fairly dry finish, nice grain aftertaste

O. Between this one & black butte porter, I can't choose, but both my favorite porter, must try!

Bottled 4.25.14. Drank 10.17.14. Poured into a 16oz Shaker.

A: Hell yes, this beauty pours a rich opaque ebony with faint glimpses of ruby around the curvature of the glass, while forming a deep mocha head so pillowy I just want to take a nap in it. Two fingers, recedes slowly, and leaves smooth lacing all over the place.

S: I'd like to meet the man at Founders who when formulating this porter spoke up and said "what if we hop it?", because that man is a goddamn genius and should be recognized for his contribution to mankind. Molasses, caramel, bready malt, bitter bakers chocolate, smokey...all that usually good porter business, but wait! HOPS! Incredibly unique, incredibly delightful.

T: Dark roasted goodness. Heavy on the coffee...black, molasses, chocolate, and those goddamn hops.

M: Light creamy body, just the right amount of carbonation, no trace of alcohol, no lingering bitterness...despite the 45IBU, finishes with a little stickiness and a pleasant lingering roast.

O: In a category all its own.
