Having this beer on tap adds so much to it.

This is trualy a well done porter has every part of it is well done. I keep going back to this all the time. Usually have a sixer in my fridge at all times its that good. Like I said having it on tap though does not compare to having it bottled, if you get the chance have a pint!

Got this in a BIF. Thanks to surlytwinsfan.

A - Black as night. Tan head that does not last long. Leaves a bit of lacing on the glass.

S - I get hints of dark fruit and chocolate. Some roast and pleasant burnt notes as well. An enjoyable smoke character is evident.

T - Coffee and chocolate flavors. I also get some dark fruit in the flavor as well. Some smoke/BBQ flavor. The hops are there but do not overpower.

M - Medium bodied. Pleasant amount of carbonation. Definitely well balanced. Very smooth. A bit of resin lingers on the tongue but it is enjoyable.

Overall - This is one of the best porters I have ever tasted. It is quite complex and at the same time extremely well balanced. I love the combination of smoke and hops and dark fruit.

S - In a pint glass poured from the bottle

A - Very heavy looking pour. Extremely dark brown in color. Thicker and darker than many of the stouts. About one finger thick, a nice tan colored head with decent retention. Awesome lacing.

S - Charred malt and barley aroma upfront. Slight amount of hops. Aroma is still very much like a porter. Very well balanced. Overall strength is mild to medium strong just like a good porter.

T - It has burnt up malts shining throughout. Slight coffee flavor. Good mix of hops though it's not bitter; it provides a good balance. Some cocoa taste. Dry finish with no sweetness whatsoever. Not boozy.

M - On the thicker and more full bodied side. Low to moderate carbonation which is very likable. No astringency only the lingering taste of burnt up malts.

O - This is how a porter should be.

I've been lucky enough to have this amazing brewery only 10 minutes from me for a while now. In my opinion, this is one of the most amazing porters anywhere.

A- Dark, rich, creamy! The head is a deep, deep tan, and creamy. Very unusual for a porter, porters always seemed thinner to me.

S- Good smell. Coffee, cocoa, roasted wonderfulness! Molasses?? Oh yes.

T- WOW. Everytime I sip this brew it amazes me. Rich, chocolatey, coffee, roasted nuts...there's the molasses.

M- Creamy and full. No runniness, thinness, and never oxidized.

D- At 6%, I can run through quite a few pints of Founder's Porter. The quality of this porter is what sets it apart from the masses. Please bottle this again Founder's!

This is my first go-round with the porter. Not a big porter drinker, but Founders is easily one of my favorite breweries so I'm looking forward to this one.

12 oz'er with no freshness date. Purchased as a single.

A- Pours a thick dark brown/black, not unlike a sludgy coffee. Thick head forms, but dissipates fairly quickly. Good lacing left.

S- Real smokiness and nice roasted malt. Coffee comes through next with a little carmel in there. Hint of chocolate. Serious mocha scent.

T- At first, quite bitter, but a nice nutty sweetness comes through. Very malty but also with a nice hop presence (not a lot though). Carmel, some molasses, smoked wood. Almost a hint of fruit at the end, seems more like an illusion, or allusion maybe.

M- Very silky, but also a nice carbonation comes through.

D- Super drinkable and smooth. For someone who doesn't typically reach for it, this is a really, really nice porter. As the bottle contends, "Dark, rich + sexy," indeed. Go get you some.

Appearance: Medium pour into a traditional pint glass...Laid a low off-white head which dissipated quickly. No Lacing on the glass. Beer is almost black with slight amber highlights when held up to the light. It is clear in the areas I can discern when held up to light.

Aroma: Molasses, Chocolate and sweet coffee. No hops.

Taste: Chocolate and coffee right up front although the coffee flavor dominated my pallet. As beer starts to warm in the glass there is a touch of alcohol present. Strangely a taste of lemons...Seems well balanced and very sessionable. Bitterness is discernible however no specific hop flavors and no DMS. Very clean

Mouthfeel: Well carbonated (although leaves a poor head), clean flavor. Slightly thin The carbonation level is perfect for this style.

Overall: A very good beer and one which is very easy to consume. Would drink again.

Poured into a 12 oz glass. Color is inky, coffee-esque black.

Smell is overpoweringly of roasted malts, almost burnt. Strong black coffee and chocolate notes.

Taste is extremely smooth. The exceptionally balanced roasted characteristics make for a very easy, yet quite rich, drink. Some nutty flavors were also in evidence. Taste was a bit more understated than the smell might suggest (which I'm okay with), but the coffee and chocolate were pleasantly noticable.

A very delicious porter; it'd be nearly impossible for me to drink more than a couple though. A perfect brew for a cold winter night (or morning). One of my favorites to date.
