A: Pours a very deep murky tawny brown color with a slight reddish tint. Thin rim of retention around the edge of the glass. Nice cream colored head that leaves thick sticky lacing.
S: Very sweet malt crosses the nostrils loaded with caramel and butterscotch goodness. Big juicy and rich dark fruit notes with some cherries and figs.
T/M: Big and juicy with loads of dark fruit---figs, cherries, raisins, and prunes. Robust chocolate and caramel malt flavors. Strong roasted malt laced with dark fruit. Extremely soft and silky smooth on the palate with a fruit based bitterness in the aftertaste. Thick body that washes down like lace--smoothest beer I've ever had.
D: Very well balanced. So soft and smooth that makes me think it's actually a quad and not a scotch ale. A pleasure to drink--hands down a great beer. High abv goes completely unnoticed--well masked.
