Bought a Founders variety pack a couple of months back. Poured a bottle into a snifter for review.
A: Pours a dark hued amber, almost ruby red, with head that fades away quickly. Carbonation seems nonexistent.
S: Smells very malty with hints of raisin, fig, candi sugar, brown sugar, slight roast, subtle notes of coffee, bubble gum, maybe some vanilla notes. This one has it going on in the malt department with 7 varieties being used in this brew.
T: Brown sugar, maple syrup, sweet caramel dipped in sugar. Slight cocoa notes, maybe a little espresso-like roast.
M: Tastes pretty sweet but not cloying. Hops due a nice job of balancing out the malts while still allowing them to shine through. Tastes a little on the heavy side. A great winter beer, or for dessert after dinner.
O: A great tasting beer overall. If I want some great malt character, I'd come back to this one in a heartbeat. Founders did an excellent job on this one.

A: it's a pretty deep auburn color with a transient, thin white head and little lacing
S: sweet malts, slightly nutty, fragrant fruits like cherries, perhaps candi sugar?
T: really liked the taste here, it's a balanced sweetness with slight hops in the after taste. I was hoping for a bit more peat flavor or nose, but I'm not disappointed. Lots of sweet malts and fruits.
M: slightly effervescent but a good complement to the sweetness
O: a really good beer. I could have a few of these in an evening. Good for dessert in the springtime
