beer poured a hazy amber color with a meringue like head on top, which dissapated to a thin layer.
smell was sweet, very malty. It had a slightly floral hop smell, with a slight citrus burn to it. I also detected caramel and chocolate scents. This beer smelled wonderful...
..but it fell short on taste. Don't get me wrong, it was "bad", it just doesn't live up to the awesomeness that the smell brings. It had a sweet start, with a flowery hop bitterness as well as a coffee like backbone. Not much here.
This had a thick mouthfeel, would be good in the winter for that "Stick to your ribs" feeling.
Higher ABV, so just have one.

I really do like trying microbrews...and I was sure happy to try this one from a brewer called Founders Brewing with the happy title of, Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale.
Out of the bottle it pours a very nice, dark amber color. Although it pours out a nice head, it has no staying power and little to no lacing. Smell-wise it was rich and aromatic with hints of almonds, distinct roasted malt, and even slighter hints of caramel. It felt thick and bold sloshing around, not watery at all - very bold, but it did leave a strong aftertaste I didn't quite like. As far as the taste, I think it was bogged down with the overpowering flavor of burnt malt, rather than a lighter roasted flavor - it just took away something from what was otherwise a pleasant experience. Overall, it was outstanding and I was saddened to only have had two of these.
