Beer #11 (of 13) from my beer purchase in Indiana.
Founders Dirty Bastard pours a dark brown color into my tulip glass; a dark ruby color can be found when holding this beer up to the light. Atop the near-completely opaque liquid sits a 1/4", light brown head that quicky dissipates. Low carbonation, no lacing. The smell is dominated by the caramelized malts; lesser amounts of chocolate, cherry-like fruit and alcohol aromas are also to be had. Hop presence is minimal.
The taste of this beer is, as expected, big and malty, with a nice caramelized sweetness. This beer manages to hide its alcohol content well, making it a bit more than an additional sweet flavor. Other flavors present include chocolate, a vaguely cherry/plum fruit, and a mild floral hop bitterness. The mouthfeel for this beer is spot-on; full without being thick, and very smooth. Finishes smoothly as well, with a lingering aftertaste of sweet malts and fruits, a hint of alcohol, and a mild bitterness.
Overall, an enjoyable Scotch ale; as usual, it's a shame I can't buy it around here.

A: it's a pretty deep auburn color with a transient, thin white head and little lacing
S: sweet malts, slightly nutty, fragrant fruits like cherries, perhaps candi sugar?
T: really liked the taste here, it's a balanced sweetness with slight hops in the after taste. I was hoping for a bit more peat flavor or nose, but I'm not disappointed. Lots of sweet malts and fruits.
M: slightly effervescent but a good complement to the sweetness
O: a really good beer. I could have a few of these in an evening. Good for dessert in the springtime
