Poured into thistle glass. Dark brown and clear, showing deep garnet/ruby in light with a minimal fizzy off-white head that dissipates into a thin rim of fizz. Smells like...Grape Nuts cereal. And that's a good thing, in this case. Nutty, crackery, slightly caramelized malt with a tiny hint of hops at the end. Can't wait to taste this, with a nose like that...and I am not disappointed. Sweet, crackery caramel malts are all over the place, with warming alcohol hiding in the background between a pinch of bittering herbal hop at the end. Mouthfeel is full but smooth, a bit sticky. Delicious.

P: A frothy ice cream float crown resting on a body of dark hazelnut brown.

S: Dirty wet socks, moldy grain, sweet roasted caramel, dark fruits, crystallized sugar, subtle brown sugar and melted milk chocolate.

T/M: Burnt sugar, roasty caramel, molasses malt and booze. Spicy and earthy hops cut thought the sweet malt and finishes with lingering bitter apple peels. Rich milky feel with prickly carbonation and a gritty end.

O: A great take on the style. Earthy, dirty rich with a surprising spiciness. There is a lot more hops than I expected. I definitely recommend trying this.

A: pours a murky brown with a finger of tan head that fades into a thin layer with good lacing.

S: caramel malts and vanilla with some sweet bready notes underneath. The aromas are quite subdued though and require a lot of agitation to get to.

T: caramel malts, caramelized sugar, and hearty wheat bread dominate with vanilla notes coming through before a slight alcohol warmth.

M: medium-thick body with lowish carbonation, this beer has just enough carbonation to avoid being watery while not being sticky sweet either.

O: a solid Scotch ale overall that really only falls short on a subdued aroma. It's tasty and drinkable without being overly sweet.
