Stuck inside during the Frankenstorm. Thought I would have a few of my heavier beers during the storm.

I poured this beer into a larger tulip glass... almost like a chalice/tulip hybrid. The foam was really minimal. The body is brownish/red.

Off the top I get a bunch of scotch presence. This is a very hot smelling beer. I'm not surprised to read that this is 8.5%. I also get a little fruitiness.

The body is full and rich. There is a lot to this beer. I like the scotch presence in this sipper style of beer.

This is a very good example of a scotch ale. My hats off to this beer by Founders.

My first Scottish Ale has a dark caramel appearance. A strong scent of malts and toffee. Dirty Bastard is both thick and creamy with Toffee and caramel tastes. Overall a great beer that is full bodied and warming. It stays with you and you should try it.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Light brown with a slight red tint. One-finger head and tons of minuscule bubbles.
S: Sweet, caramel, malt, a hint of figs.
T: Figs for days, along with roasted malt and caramel. A hint of hops on the finish.
M: Medium-bodied but a bit too thick.
O: Nice overall, a touch sweeter than I like.

Deep red-brown colour, fairly murky looking, just a whisp of white head, little to no lace present. Smell is big and malty, sweet caramel, toffee, some dark bread, dark fruit, raisin and plums, light booze comes off as well. Taste is rich and malty, dark druits come across initially, caramel and toffee, lightly sweet throughout, long fruity finish and aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, full body, chewey and very thick. A delicious and complex offering from Founders, really nice stuff that I would be happy to have in my glass anytime.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A: A dark, cloudy, almost dirty (get it?) brown. Great color of brown IMO. Very thin head that disappears. Nice lacing that lingers.

S: Sweet, malty, sugary, caramel.

T: Pretty sweet. Can hint coffee, malt, sugar. Full-flavored.

M: Pretty carbonated, but not too much. Robust.

Overall: Incredible beer. This is so easy to drink. I will definitely have this again. Founders is definitely on my radar for dark beers.
