Nice clear light orange color, thin white head from draft.

Very sweet up front on the taste, hints of mango and tropical fruit. Then in the aftertaste, hot dry heat, spicy. Viscous thick body throughout like drinking white motor oil, sticks to the roof of my mouth. Sweetness dominates throughout, only barely saved by the lingering hot chile heat at the end.

Really interesting use of spicy chile heat to hold back a very thick and sweet bodied beer. I like the idea of the Mango playing off the chile heat but could have used more tropical fruit flavor up front, perhaps a strong dose of flavoring hops and more hop bittering to hold back the thick sweet body before the chile comes in to do its job.

I really think they are on to something here and it is not a totally lost cause but that thick sweet body needs to be handled before the chile gets a chance to work its magic. I enjoyed it but had trouble finishing one glass.

A: in a flute glass, clear deep gold, modest white head, some lacing

S: mango sweetness and suggestions of other orchard fruits, hints at spice

T: rather straightforward: mango beer with spicy pepper heat - not terribly complex; sweet up front, drier finish (owing to the pepper heat)

M: medium body, tingly from the pepper, modest carbonation, faint stickiness

O: this is gonna be a taste-specific beer, moreso than many, simply because you are either going to like the sweet mango and pepper heat or not - for me, liking mango (fruit) and peppers in beer, I liked it, but was not impressed enough to want another.

On tap at kickbacks in jax. Poured into a small snifter. Nice white head, moderate retention on a clear golden body. Clear lacing. Aroma includes mango, go figure, lemon, passionfruit, starfruit. Taste has a nice mellow fruity sweetness and a nice white peppery finish. Extremely unique tasting beer, quite delicious.

750ml, July 13
Riedel tulip

A: Clear golden orange color. Deeper than I was expecting, but also clearer than I was expecting too. Good two finger head. Sticky lacing. Good carbonation.

S: Lot of fleshy fruit on the nose. Bright mango. Freshness. Smells sweet. Slight spice is begin it all. Sweet malt.

T: There is a sharp hit right up front. Then the sweetness of the mango. Then the spice really hits you. It's nice and spicy on the back. Finish lingers. Heat on the lips.

M: Medium. Creamy and silky. More body than it appears in the glass.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a big Founders CBS glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear copper golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About three solid fingers of white head that quickly fade into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A very sweet fruit dominated aroma with big hints of mango and some hints of habanero spice. Big upfront aroma of citrus fruit with lots of mango. Also some fruit hints of orange, peach, apricot, and lemon zest. Soft pale malt with hints of grains, cracker, and yeast. Background hints of spice from the habanero peppers. Hop presence is pretty faint. Surprisingly no booze scent is detected. A fairly simple but good aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma, a very fruit forward taste with a big dose of mango and some habanero spice heat. Very fruity upfront with a big taste of mango. Also some fruit notes of orange, apricot, peach, and lemon zest. The heat comes on stronger in the middle with a taste of the habanero peppers. Soft bready malt presence in the background with some notes of grain, cracker, and yeast. Slight honey like sweetness as well. Hop bitterness is pretty muted. Taste is sweet but far from cloying. Pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp and very juicy and sweet but not overly syrupy. Big kick of heat is felt from the peppers but the booze is hidden very well.

Overall: A very good fruit beer. The mango is juicy and sweet but not overbearing. The heat adds an interesting kick. Surprisingly smooth and non boozy. Would pair great with a spicy Mexican dish.

Bottle at home.

Appearance - Brilliant, lively gold body. Very sticky eggshell white head. Lacing the entire glass. Great appearance!

Aroma - A sweet Version of an American light lager you all know.

Taste - Sweet fruit. Heat.

Mouthfeel - Silky smooth but it burns like no other.

Overall - Would like to cook with this version. Would like a more dry/fruitiness and a touch less heat in future versions. Just a touch. You have to like heat to like this beer.
